Summer Nail Studio 57th st — Local services in New York

I’m saddened to say that my most recent visit to Summer Nail Studio on 57th will be the last visit. I have been a customer for several months now, and have always tipped generously because of the clean space, the nail color options, and the professionalism of the nail technicians. Last night, a nail technician, who may have been the lead technician, added on extra fees to remove gel polish from my nails. I only had gel polish on three of my nails. She told me the total is $5 for gel removal. I told her even for only 3 nails? She said the price is still $5 for at least 2 nails. I respected the price, but it sounded like she was making up the policy on the spot. I never had to pay the gel removal price before at Summer Nail Studio. I didn’t see the gel removal price anywhere on the menu online or in the studio. I feel like she was just trying to get the most money out of me because I was only going in for a regular manicure. So word to wise: be careful of extra fees the studio will try to charge you. I’m disappointed that this studio did not...

Horrible pedicure service and gave me the most painful ingrown toenail I’ve ever had. I came here less than 2 weeks ago for a spa gel pedicure. The technician had absolutely 0 attention to detail. The spa pedicure came with a 10 minute foot massage and the technician was just aggressively rubbing my feet like she was trying to light them in fire for 5 minutes until I just told her to stop and cut the massage short. The gel job was very sloppy so much so that after a week they looked like a 3 week old grown out gel pedicure so I had to go spend $100 less than 2 weeks later for another gel pedicure (at Rescue Spa because I will never be coming back here). Worst of all, the technician gave me what has been the most unbearably painful ingrown toenail I’ve ever had from her sloppy toe cutting work. I literally had tears running down my face trying to cut the ingrown nail and even days later it is still in pain and I can’t wear heals. Do yourself a favor and AVOID AT ALL COSTS...

Everything about this salon is truly an experience worth the treck to 57th and Lex (unless you're already there, then go go go)! This nail salon is serene, professional, and insanely clean. Its so hard to find such places that don't charge an arm and a leg and don't skimp on sanitary practices. Every client had an individual set of tools that came from a clear protective packet; dentist tools anyone? I especially love that they had calming meditation music playing and signs for people to keep the volume down. My pedicure was spectacular and I will definitely be going back!

Sidenote, while most customers had appointments, I saw several ladies walk in and this salon was super accommodating despite the fact that they were closing within the hour. I recommend this salon to anyone that values cleanliness and quality!
