Superior Driving School — Local services in New York

I STRONGLY recommend Superior Driving School to any one who 1.) is new to driving or 2.) wants or needs a thorough refresher in NY State road test preparation, proper driving technique, and defensive driving.

My Background: I have driven for over 40 years, but allowed my license to expire, therefore had to take the 5 hour class again. I had planned to go to another driving school in the Sunnyside/Woodside area, but they were filled up, therefore my google search turned up Superior Driving School.

Excellent 5 hour driver's course: Superior offers an excellent 5 hour driver's course. The instructor was thorough and taught the full 5 hours. He actively encouraged class participation, and frequently reinforced major points regarding defensive driving and passing your driver's license road test. The class had about 15 to 20 students, and the instruction was as inspiring as he was thorough.

Actual Driving Lesson: To familiarize myself with the "Superior" car that I would be using on my driving test, I took a 45 minute driving lesson with Superior. I was impressed: the instructor (different from the classroom instructor) was giving useful test taking advice even before I was seated in the car. He selected a road trip that was similar to what I would have to drive over on the actual test. Throughout the lesson, he repeated pointed out useful tips, and important caveats that would help me pass my exam.

As a driver with absolutely no experience, I felt really anxious about how I would be able to learn how to drive and successfully pass my road test. The service at Superior Driving School is outstanding. The staff are phenomenal and want to make the process of scheduling lessons, the five hour class as well as the road test as easy going as possible. Even if there are issues that arise, they work extremely hard to fix it and allow everything to run smoothly, The Drive Scout App also made it easy for me to track when I had a lesson, and they made sure to send reminder text messages. Mr. Adolfo is an incredible driving instructor. In the beginning, I felt anxious and nervous. I was tense during the first few lessons, but working with Adolfo, I went into my road test confident knowing that he had taught me everything I needed to know. His techniques were easy to follow and ensured good results. He taught hypothetical ways to fix mistakes as well if they were to arise. He is patient, kind, and truly wants positive outcomes for you. Beyond the road test, he teaches you how to be a good observer, which is extremely important in anticipating actions of other drivers and avoiding accidents. Not only did he help me pass my road test on the first try (with no experience prior!!) but he has taught me what it means to be a smart and skillful driver. Superior driving school is amazing. Before superior driving school, I went to the other driving school which is relatively expensive, and what I got there was very rude instructor and result was failing the road test. After failing the first road test with the other driving school, I lost my confident of driving, and was scared to drive again.

But after I started going to superior driving school, everything changed. I booked lessons with Adolfo( he is the best!) He is very kind and nice, and what he tells are easy to understand even for beginner or international driver like me! (My mother language is not English) And he encourages you to be a good driver! After the lessons with him, I started regain my confidence of driving again!

After the second road test with superior driving school, I wanted to give Adolfo tip because I was asked to give my instructor tip when I took first road test with the other driving school, but Adolfo kindly didn’t accept my tip even though he came to pick me up from near my house and drive all the way to my road test site(Kissena park) !
