Bar Method totally fixed my posture as a tattoo artist. I've been going to this studio for almost 2 years now and I love it.
The workouts are all tiny, internal movements, and won't work if you're throwing around too-heavy weights and not paying close attention to using the correct form. If that sounds annoying to you, you probably won't like it.
But if you are a self-driven, type A kind of person, took dance as a kid, want to fix your posture and lengthen your body out, like stability/isometric workouts like pilates, want a cross training class that won't ruin your running schedule, or any combo of those, you'll probably love Bar Method.
The classes are more diverse than you'd expect, although that isn't saying TOO much, given the price point. The space feels like a spa, with relaxing lighting and nice products in the locker room. And I can wear cute workout outfits without bros staring at me, YAY.
Honestly one of the best parts of the studio is that the owners are so kind. They really, genuinely care about the people who come here. It seems like they make a lot of exceptions to corporate policy in the name of taking care of their members. I really feel valued as a person, like me being there is more than just another line item in their budget.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreA couple of weeks ago, I took my 500th class at Bar Method Noho - if thatās not an endorsement, I donāt know what is!
This full body workout is effective, fun and safe. The instructors describe the set up for each exercise, so you can get in the best possible form, get the maximum benefit from the exercise and protect your knees, your hip flexors, and so on. Instructors undergo extensive training in the Bar Method before they are certified and it shows - they are the best.
Not only are the classes energizing, but the community is a joy and a support to its members. People celebrate the achievements of their classmates, acknowledge milestones and participate in charity classes for things like breast cancer awareness. Itās a great group of people.
If you havenāt yet taken a class, try it....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been coming to the Bar Method Noho since shortly after it opened. I was not a client during the pandemic, but was nonetheless impressed by the way they not only offered comparable quality of service but also used the opportunity to expand their scope. They now offer a book club and other community-building activities and hold fundraisers for various causes.
The Bar Method is slightly different from other barre studios (e.g. Pure Barre, the Daily Method, Exhale). I've found their focus on slow strength building more compelling than quicker, cardio-intensive movements. My body has changed significantly and for the better.
The studio is beautiful, the showers are well-stocked and maintained, every single staff member there knows and greets me by my name. An excellent environment I recommend...
