My big homie was in town the Saturday night before St Paddys day and ordered us to meet him at Bleecker Street Bar. I'd never been and really didn't want to go out, but when the big homie is in town, you gotta dig deep.
My fellow lil bro and I arrived and much to our chagrin, we were met with a pretty long line. After waiting in the cold for a few minutes, big homie comes out from the inside and daps the bouncer up and gives us a confused look while waving us in. That's why he the big homie!
Big homie got me a negroni, and to be honest, it wasn't great...they were kinda light on the gin & campari... It came with one of those tiny little straws too... every time a drink comes with a straw all I can think about is Crazy Stupid Love when Ryan Gosling's character tells Steve Carrells "Rob, it’s like you’re sucking on a tiny shvantz" ahahahhaa. That scene single handedly stopped me drinking from straws. Well I am drinking this iced coffee from a straw rn, but that's neither here nor there.
I realize this is more of a beer oriented establishment as it's more of a sports bar vibe, so that's lowkey on me. Big homie got one of the draft beers here and loved it. I shoulda just got a beer, but it just fills me up so quick, Idk. Prob shoulda just went tequila soda.
Anyways, the crowd in here was great and it's a big open space, which is hard to come by in NYC. The big homie was moving in here like a prime Kevin Samuels, crazy to watch. I don't condone that behavior though, I got a girl!

Read moreUnder the definition "no frills" is this place. No atmosphere. No theme. No cocktail specials. Just alcohol, seats to drink it in, and restrooms. It benefits greatly from location because it's off Broadway and in an area that isn't packed with bars, so it has a generic neighborhood vibe in an area that isn't very residential.
You don't go here on a date unless your date is a jersey-wearing die-hard sports fan that lives within two blocks of the place. You might go here to meet a buddy after work get a quick lunchtime drink between shifts, or as a quick one-drink stop on a pub crawl on the way to better places.
It's a solid bar if all you want is a clean place to drink and watch the local NY sports teams on the flatscreen TV's all over the room. And there's a place for that in NYC; it's surprising how difficult it is for a bar to accomplish that simple feat. And Bleecker Street Bar does that...
Read moreI had one of the best experiences at Bleecker Street Bar last weekend. I went for the Duke/Houston final four game and from the very beginning, the staff were so kind and fun. Everyone that I interacted with, from the bouncers and bartenders to the bathroom attendant, were some of the loveliest people I have ever interacted with in the city. I have lived in NYC for almost 3 years and have never experienced this consistent level of service from every single employee of an establishment. I recognized how rare this was and told one of the bartenders as I was buying another drink, and he gave me and my two friends free shots of our choice, just for telling him what a great experience I was having. 10/10 would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a...
