The Luna Apartments — Local services in New York

I became a tenant of this building in December of 2016. Since then, the managers have proven time and time again to be unqualified to fulfill the position for which they have been hired. The general manager, Lance Cohen, has overstepped boundaries violating my privacy as a tenant. A coworker of mine and I were in the lounge, at which point we happened to make a comment regarding the rent. Mr. Cohen found the need to contact me and state that "Are you trying to sublet this apartment? I heard you discuss rents with someone...on March 13, 2017.. with a gentleman in the lounge." This has made me feel as though I can no longer hold conversations with my visitors in common areas, without someone from building management listening to every word I say. This behavior is unprofessional and blatantly unacceptable.

Another issue that must be addressed is the timely payment on essential utilities like electricity. Residents of this building, me included, have received warnings of late payment from ConEdison. After much confusion was caused, it became evident this happened due to managements inability to perform the duties their position entails.

With that being said, I'd like to point out and congratulate the staff working the front desk who do a remarkable job and are very helpful and polite, as it should be for anyone working within the hospitality industry.

So I thought it time write a review about Luna LIC. I have been a resident here from the very beginning of its opening. I will be the first admit the building got off to a very rough start. They just unknowing or not hired all the wrong people. The leasing team, the management company and the Super were all just disasters. The only bright spot was the door staff team. I say this because it somewhat explains the bad reviews. However I more importantly must call out the 100% turn around that has occurred with an all new team. They not only brought in a whole new management team they also hired a new Super. Have been very pleased all the way around Lance and Iliana (Mgmt. Team) have done a great job turning things around and making people feel valued and that they appreciate us as residents. I realize it’s a tough job and you can't please everyone all the time, but they really try and make it a point to make sure everyone is heard. So thank you! A special thanks must go to Iliana for amazing communication about the happenings in and around the building. She is awesome. The Super we have now (Mike) has to be the best super that ever lived. This guy is amazing!!!!! What used to take weeks to get fixed now takes minutes and always with a smile and genuine caring attitude. He is just good people and I totally appropriate everything he does. And as always the door team are just rock stars. It's like coming home to family. All in all Luna LIC is great place to make a life and I truly enjoy...

I would give this place zero stars if i could. I kept my apartment immaculate and clean. I made sure not to damage anything so that I would not be charged after moving out. They charged me $250 for a "dent" in the bathtub. I never used my bathtub to the extent that it would cause a "dent" and when they took a picture of the bathtub to explain to me about this so-called invisible "dent", there was clearly no dent. It was clear they were trying to scam and charge me for anything so they could get something out of the security deposit.

Moreover, I had asked multiple times before vacating my apt if I could meet with the superintendent of the building, named Mike. He was somehow nowhere to be found. It was clear that after I asked NUMEROUS times about when I could meet him so he could inspect the apt or let me know if there was anything wrong. He wouldn't even meet with me. It was very suspicious.

I called to ask the building's management why they wouldn't let me get in contact with the super and why they decided then to charge me all this money for a "dent" that never happened or was even there in the tub. The woman on the phone was incredibly disparaging and rude, and told me it's too bad and tough luck.

I urge you NOT TO RENT FROM THIS BUILDING 42-15 CRESCENT (LUNA) unless you are okay with getting ripped off and getting your security deposit taken...
