I visited CityMD on Queens Plaza on August 4th, and my experience was nothing short of appalling. Upon arrival, I was told there would be about an hour wait, which was understandable. However, things quickly went downhill from there.
After waiting for a considerable time, a medical assistant finally took my vitals around 4:40 PM. I was then told to wait for the doctor, who did not come in until nearly 5:30 PM. When the doctor finally entered the room, I immediately noticed she was already wearing gloves. To my dismay, she closed the door with those same gloves and then attempted to examine me without changing them. I requested that she change her gloves before touching me, as any patient would expect a clean and hygienic examination.
After making this simple request, the appointment felt rushed and dismissive. The doctor spent no more than five minutes with me, and when I asked for a doctor's note, I was told that "nothing was wrong" with me, despite my symptoms. It felt as though my concerns were brushed off entirely just because I advocated for basic hygiene.
To make matters worse, the doctor sent my prescription to a pharmacy I had never been to, even though I had specified my usual pharmacy during check-in. This mistake meant that I couldn’t even pick up my medication that night. I had to wait until the next morning to have the prescription transferred to my regular pharmacy. When I arrived, the medication still wasn't ready, further delaying my treatment.
A week later, I was diagnosed with the flu—something that should have been addressed during my visit. I expressed my concerns to Anthony, who claimed to be the manager, but instead of handling the situation professionally, he reiterated in the waiting area that "there's nothing wrong with you." This blatant disregard for patient care and privacy is unacceptable.
Dr. Ilanit Aminow's practice at CityMD reflects a concerning lack of professionalism and care. Her failure to take appropriate precautions and her dismissive attitude during my visit have left me questioning the standards of this clinic.
I work in a hospital and understand the importance of patient care and proper medical procedures. Had my symptoms been taken seriously during my initial visit, I would not be as sick as I am now. The dismissive attitude, lack of professionalism, and failure to follow basic guidelines at this clinic are alarming.
If you value your health and want to be treated with respect and care, I urge you to go somewhere else. CityMD on Queens Plaza clearly prioritizes insurance money over patient well-being. I hope this review helps others avoid the distressing experience I...
Read moreCame here for a COVID test on a random Wednesday afternoon because I was having cold/flu symptoms. Went in at 12pm, was told there would be a 2+ hour wait and I had to write my name and phone # down and I would get a text when my turn was approaching. Despite the long wait, this is at least a much better system than it originally was, with people standing outside in line for hours on end. I ended up getting a text about four hours later, went back to the clinic, and waited in the waiting room for about another 45 minutes. The provider told me I should have both a rapid and a PCR test because I was symptomatic, which required two separate deep nasopharyngeal swabs in each nostril for a total of four swabs. I thought testing had moved toward the anterior nare sample so I was pretty disappointed about getting four brain pokes. Front desk and staff were nice and helpful though. I received my rapid test results about 90min later even though I was told it would be 15-30 minutes. Piece of advice - other people were coming in requesting covid testing while I was in the waiting room at about 4pm and they were being turned away and told the waitlist for covid testing was already too long for the day. So don't bother going in for covid testing in the late afternoon, the line will already be...
Read moreSuper friendly staff and overall a very pleasant urgent care experience. It can get quite busy, especially with COVID testing, but I walked in on a Friday afternoon for a non-COVID related issue and only had to wait 20-30 minutes before being shown into an exam room. The attentiveness and patient-focus was top notch - I discussed my issue first with the nurse, then with the physician’s assistant, and then finally with Dr. Klokeid (with the nurse and physician’s assistant still in the exam room). Dr. Klokeid (and his staff) was very personable, knowledgeable, and answered every single one of my questions (of which there were many) calmly and clearly - ensuring that I fully understood his diagnosis and put my mind at ease. I went to UMD by Vernon Blvd. in Long Island City a bit earlier in the day and got the worst treatment (see my review on them) and came to CityMD for a second opinion due to my being rushed out of UMD just so they could churn more patients and bring in more money. If you’re in need of urgent care, I HIGHLY recommend going to CityMD in LIC. They provide the kind of care and personal attention that’s required to be given to people who come to them with a medically urgent condition and are looking...
