I have had the pleasure of working with True North Physical Therapy, and specifically, Dr. Sherry Dubash, for the past several weeks and could not be happier with the level of care and professionalism. My past experiences with physical therapy are somewhat limited and not altogether pleasant. Finding a physical therapist and sticking to a therapy routine can be can be overwhelming and intimidating, particularly when attempting to cope with the frustrations of chronic pain or an injury that disrupts ordinary daily activities. I am incredibly grateful to have found a physical therapist who was attentive to my concerns and patient with their instruction to make the process truly as painless as possible.
The facility is conveniently located a short walk from the 7 train. The space is the perfect size, well-maintained, and well equipped to provide a relaxed but comprehensive therapy experience. To simplify the healing process, True North provides an easy-to-use app that is loaded with the specific exercises recommended to continue therapy at home. As therapy progressed, Dr. Dubash was able to add new exercises into the app, which helped me to stay on track between sessions.
Dr. Dubash is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate and skilled. She took the time to listen to my concerns and goals, helped me to articulate how and when I was experiencing pain or discomfort and worked with me to develop a treatment plan that could return me as soon as possible to my normal routine. I feel that I have learned a great deal about how to listen to my body both to correct problem areas that were causing me pain and prevent future injury.
Thanks to the excellent care and instruction I have received, I have made significant progress in my recovery and am confident that, moving forward, I will be better equipped to assess my own strengths and problem areas, build physical resilience, and reduce the chance of future injury.
I recommend this practice to anyone in need of physical therapy services...
Read moreDr. Sherry Dubash is by far the best physical therapist I’ve ever worked with. For context, I have been in and out of physical therapy for over 5 years due to herniated discs in my spine and chronic pain. Sherry was the first physical therapist that looked at me as a whole person (ie what I do for work, what my lifestyle is like, what my goals are) and holistically developed a treatment plan to help me rebuild strength and work towards living an active more pain-free life. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and open with current evidence-based information modalities and engages in dialogue to help me understand why I was doing a specific strength building or stretch exercise. Her explanation of the chronic pain cycle helped me identify my antecedents/triggers for pain which allowed me to anticipate when I may have a flare up, what to do about it and thus creating a less negative relationship with my pain. She has genuinely changed my life, and gave me hope and proof that I am able to live a active lifestyle despite being told otherwise by previous doctors or PTs. After working with Sherry, I have had WAY fewer pain flareups, barely any nerve pain, and have begun to exercise and play tennis again (after years of not being able to). If you want a PT that is kind, compassionate and understanding of the mind/body connection, I can’t recommend Dr Sherry...
Read moreSherry is very attentive, considerate and knowledgeable. She is genuinely trying to help. On my initial visit, she did a very thorough examination. In fact, she knew that I must be hurting in more places than what I actually told her. I went to her for knee pain and she found out that it is coming from my hip. The manual therapy she applies in follow up appointments is always relieving. She makes sure to explain proper form during exercise, which I think is really important. I wish someone would do this every time I worked out. She makes sure not to give me a lot of homework, knowing that if it's too much I may not do it. However, the exercise she gives works very well for me -- I can feel my muscles working and, so far, I have been getting great results. I love having an app to remind me about doing my exercise, with detailed videos and further explanation that Sherry writes specifically for me. I feel that, thanks to Sherry, I am progressing at the right pace. She doesn't rush into doing too much too soon, but she also gives me confidence when I am worried to take the next step. She has very clear instructions on when to do more, take a break or stop right away, which I find very useful. Last, but not least, I enjoy talking to Sherry. Spending an hour with her never seems too long. I am really glad I found her and can't recommend her...
