I discovered uBreakiFix after deciding that I would hold onto my paid off LG v30 since it worked perfectly, and only had one visible scar. The dreaded cracked screen. Spoke to an associate here, possibly was a manager, M and I liked and trusted him. Very professional on the phone, gave priority to me as the customer re. scheduling, less trips to their store for me, and things like that. Price was about One seventy something with a discount that he added on and would take only two hours. Really not so bad and I liked the idea of a quick turnaround. Dropped off phone at around 3 pm Later on, after 6, not yet hearing back, I just headed back over to their store. It was still being worked on and i sensed some nervousness in the air (might have been the annoying other customer, talking loudly into their phone and pacing around the 5' square store. Got phone, it looked great, was in a rush so I left quickly: lots of thank you's flying through the air. I had never looked at the rest of the phone though until I was home. The silver behind the glass encasing looked all chewed up in the corner. After speaking with M on the phone, I learned that was probably damage due to the heat that was applied to get the front screen on, He apologized and asked me to go in again and he would try to make good on it. I never went- I think that all he could do was a small discount which wasn't worth the extra time i'd spend to get it. I wish that he would have pointed it out to me when I picked up the phone instead of being glad that I hadn't yet noticed it (an assumption on my part). That was sort of immature but whatever. I'd still recommend them, and I would go there again if I needed similar phone fixing done. M was a good guy and they can probably do some good work. I'm convinced that mine was an anomaly. Screen looks perfect. The back of the phone? well not so much. Once it's in its phone case, you see nothing wrong. It's my...
Read moreGOOGLE WARRANTY VISITS BEWARE- After my Google phone had a screen pixelation issue, I spoke with Google and sent them photos of my phone, and had a PRE-APPROVED repair authorization under full warranty. They told me to head to any ubreakifix and they will take care of it.
I called this store in advance, showed up, and the dude at the front (without taking off the case) instantly told me I did the damage, it was from dropping it, and it won't be covered.
Not that he should have reason to believe me, but I explained this is my third pixel with screen problems and there was no drop before the screen issue. I then showed him the direct email from GOOGLE saying the damage has been reviewed and I am clear for full repair (which any reasonable business owner knows that they are now absolved from their own opinion, and can proceed with the contracted work)
He told me he was going to call his boss and come back in 10 so he could call his 'manager'... When I came back, he had the case off and pointed to general wear-and-tear damage around the paint (from where I usually pry off my Google phone case) and said that was drop damage which voids the repair warranty and my only option is to pay full.
I called Google, they sent me to their actual store in Williamsburg, the people at the GOOGLE store instantly said there was no correlation between the peeled paint and damaged screen, and it was certainly under warranty. They fixed the phone for free in 1 hour (as opposed to the 3 hours this store quoted me)
OVERALL: From the go, it was clear this shop didn't want to make a covered repair, and in no way did I feel like they were looking into options. It was incredibly quick and easy for them to come up with reasons why I can't be covered and have to pay...
Read moreMy phone screen was cracked. I was told it would take 1 week for someone to my come my home from insurance to fix so i decided i would go to this store as it worked with my insurance. I went during my work break and they to told me i need to come back in 2 hours. I asked if they can do it then as i work far away but they said they could not. Fine. They said to come by 1:30. I asked to confirm that it will definitely be ready as i am going during work and they assured me it would be. I cam at 2:30 and was told they just need 10 min to do diagnostics. Needless to say it took 30 min and when they gave me my phone i rushed out to get back to work. When i go to work i realized i was not able to use my phone because it wasnt connecting to any network. They never completed the full diagnostics and called me while i was there to insure the phone was working properly. My husband called them and spoke to a tech who told us to call in the morning and they would arrange for someone to come to our home to fix it. In the morning we called and were told that we would need to come back. I work far away from there and already spent a great deal of my time there yesterday. the phone was not ready at 1:30 like they assured me and further more they rushed the diagnostics and did not confirm my phone was working properly . I can not go to the store as i live in a different borough and work far away. They said only thing i can do it is come back. Poor customer service and quality. Never going back . Now i have to pay another 30 dollars for someone to come to my home to do it as this would be...
