I think this place is super hyped up not worth it!!! The place looks nice and it's a chill vibe. But the drinks weren't good at all, the staff is rude AF definitely won't come back to this place. It's always packed and small place.
Cool place liked the decor and the teacups. But staff is awful. Takes forever to get a drink. The bartenders are rude, and all have attitude. Took 15 minutes the 1st time to get one drink, told bartender to keep tab open, he was rude and said no im going to close it. Went back a 2nd time with a friend, all the bartenders had attitude. took forever to get one of the bartenders attention even thou they weren't that busy. After 15 minutes of waiting to order a drink. Had to wait another 20 minutes for them to make the drinks. Had to remind them like 5 times about our order.
Cool that the drinks are served in teacups super cute. But the drinks are not good. Tried 3 different drinks from the menu and we didnt like any of them.
They are a no smoking place and are super strict about it. Not vape friendly at all. If you vape I would stay anyway from this place. Not worth the trouble!!
We were sitting next to a couple and the girl had her vape. One of the bouncers saw her and told the manager about it. The lady came over very rude and didn't even give her a warning. She said there was no smoking allowed. Proceeded to kick the girl out, the girl apologized and wasn't rude about it. The girl asked for a refund as she had just gotten her drink. The manager offered her a refund and said she could finish her drink but then had to leave. The girl had no problem with that agreed to leave after she finished her drink and got a refund.
Not even 1 minute later the bouncer came over and yells at the girl super rude and told her to get up she was getting kicked out and her friend as well. Mind you the girl wasn't causing any problems just sitting down with a friend drinking. Then you have 2 other bouncers coming and making a big scene for no reason. She told bouncer she was waiting for her refund. He was yelling saying he didnt care and told her she needed to get up and leave right away. Manager came over with money and the girl left with no problem. Very unnecessary to make a big scene and yell at the girl.
Mind you there was a super drunk guy standing by the bar area who couldn't even stand up straight, half asleep who looked like he was about to throw up and they were find with him. But they harassed the girl and...
Read moreOn 11/19/22 around 6:30pm shortly after The Back Room opened, I was waiting at the bar with my partner. The bar only had one bartender, Michael, working and serving drinks. While waiting, my side was to the bar facing my partner. Behind me, the bartender was grabbing a check and slid a lit candle out of the way. The candle ended up behind my left arm and caught my puffer coat on fire. It burnt completely through the jacket (the hole was the size of a dollar bill) and even damaged my sweater underneath. The jacket is a limited edition (no longer sold) designer jacket worth ~$500 (varies based on demand and availability on aftermarkets). When I let the bartender know, he laughed and said "I thought I smelt something burning." No offer for help, even though I complained about a burn on my thumb. After asking again for help, I was given a mug of ice. As the burn became a sensitive blister, we asked for a bandaid. The people working did not know where the first aid kit was. Once found, the bandaids were so old, they were melted together or not sticky. We finally find one that worked. We asked for a manager to complain and no one was on duty. The only workers were the bartender, a 3rd party security guard, and a bar back that didn't appear to speak English. We left shortly after the guard gave use the contact info after harassing us for wearing a hat (strict no hat policy) cause we no longer had a free hand to hold it with our overpriced drinks (which they didn't comp or discount).
I've tried to settle this with the business via email. We settled via email on $1000 for property damages, personal injuries, and emotional distress. In addition, I would also agree that it was a final settlement and would take no further actions on the case. They approved the settlement and were preparing paperwork and when I asked for an update, they reduced the agreed upon amount to just property damage ($500) and still want me to sign away my rights to taking any further action against them.
After speaking with my friends, this place has a terrible reputation with locals. The staff is rude, rules are overwhelming, and the drinks are overpriced. Only come here for the historic vibe, because the experience, service, and prices will leave you...

The inside bouncer lifted a whole bench so we wouldnt sit there 😭😭😭 talk about extra. I came here a couple weeks ago with a friend and it was just us two on a slow Wednesday night. The bar closed earlier which we didn't mind as we also work in the service industry. I had an amazing time, especially for my first experience. And so, I brought some new friends over today because I loved the vibes. However, when we went to go to an area to find seating, one of the inside bouncers opened his flashlight and told us it was reserved. Okay. We said no worries, there was a small section where we could stand and just drink. After a while, we noticed an opening on a bench right next to us. We saw a a white couple (will make sense in a second) sitting across from it, and my friend asked them of they had any company sitting on the bench. They said no and as my friend came back to tell us there was room, the inside bouncer LIFTED the whole bench and brought it away from us and towards the back. My friends and I (all asian) looked at each other with confusing glances. Even the white couple sitting across was so confused. They ended up getting abruptly up and leaving, because of this. A short moment passes and some African-american customers come up and take the exact seats where the original couple was. My friend starts talking to them and I see the bouncer slowly start turning nervous. The bouncer then comes up to my friend taking to the customer and says "Hey its because you guys actually ordered one drink. If you guys order more, I can let you guys sit." So why not tell us before we enter, and why only tell us after my friend was talking to the African-american customer??? We ended up leaving because we decided this was a hostile environment for us— who decides to just randomly pick up A WHOLE BENCH???? and then tell us it was because we have to order one drink per person on order to sit??? This is 2025, not the 1900's. Do better. Especially Asians— DO NOT COME. THE BOUNCERS SEEM TO ONLY CARE IF YOU ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN...
