Approached register and I jokingly told the cashier that the security officer was gonna pay for my cigars. The security officer replied by asking if he should pay for the minis as well. Did not know what he meant by that. Seconds later, the store manager (bless her heart) showed up at the register and asked about the minis. I then removed my cell phone from my front hooded sweatshirt pocket to reveal that I did not pocket any minis. Then I realized that the security officer was accusing me of stealing mini alcohol bottles. Long story short, I have never been humiliated before like that. Besides, I won't ever jeopardize my clean record by committing theft. I need to keep my foid, conceal carry license, and my guns. When I moved to the Chicago suburbs (from Miami, FL), people raved about Binny's. Total Wine is eating Binny's lunch. This review is primarily as to the whisk(e)y selection, which is lacking in the number of brands, number of special releases/runs, and sizes of bottle available. I asked for Macallan 12 in a 375ml and they looked at me like I was crazy and pointed me to the endcap at the register (with the mini bottles). I'm not crazy. But you're crazy if you think I was asking for Fireball or vodka in an emoji-shaped plastic bottle.

More generally, I wish that information was provided about each bottle and brand on the display. People want reviews and information, tasting notes, ratings, common uses, etc. so that they don't buy an Islay Scotch for their grandfather who only loves whiskey sours.

The Binny's in Oakbrook is an outstanding location with an extensive selection in all wines and spirits. It is a pleasure to shop at this newer facility, mainly due to the exceptional staff. Anthony (general manager) has put together an extremely knowledgeable team in every department. He has also provided exceptional advice and customer service to me whenever I visit to store. Joe (spirits manager) is highly educated in American whisky and has provided extraordinary guidance to me in that regard. Jon (wine manager) has unprecedented expertise in both French and American wine. Jorge (customer service manager) is both well informed and accommodating in all areas.
