BUYER BEWARE! Thought we were helping local business by purchasing a new stove, even though it cost us $200 more that the big box stores. The day before the scheduled delivery and install, Johnsons called and ask if we could help the installer, install the hood since he is alone and it takes 2 people. We said we would help, even though we were charged installation fees. The stove was delivered, but the guys could not unhook the old the stove, which we paid to have removed, we needed to call the Gas company (that was o.k.), however Dan the installed stopped by to put the conversion kit on the stove and he was cursing up a storm (my guess is he saw the damaged stove and didn't want to tell us or deal with it) so we said can you also install the hood, and we will help you, like we were asked to do. He made every excuse in the book and left, without installing the hood. He did ask if he could come to the home when we weren't going to be there, which we said absolutely not????? Why do you want to be at the home when we aren't there? We called Daryl our sales person 2 days later once the gas company came and unhooked the old stove wanting Dan the installer to come back and finish the job we paid for. Daryl said he would call us back, because he needed to speak to the dispatcher. 2 hours went by and we heard nothing. We have the old stove, that we paid to have removed and the new stove and hood sitting in our Livingroom. Called Johnsons again and spoke to Gary (the manager) who was the rudest person we have ever met. We said they need to come and get this old stove out and install the new one. He said I am cancelling your order and hung up on my husband. Within 20 minutes 2 guys were back and we said are you here for the old or the new, and they said the old, so they took the old. We still had the new sitting in our Livingroom, not knowing when this will be installed so we called our handyman, who came right away, took one look inside the stove and said this is damage and rusted. By the way Dan, our handyman installed the hood and the stove ALL BY HIMSELF. He didn't need our help.....Excuses, Excuses....Excuses... In order for Dan to put the conversion kit in, he would have seen the damage but NEVER said anything to us (did a lot of cursing though). We called Gary and said this stove is damaged and he said it wasn't damaged when Dan put the conversion kit in???? So in other words, he was accusing us seniors of bending steel (see pics) and rust set in within 2 days???? He credited us $200 (not enough for the damage, this brings the price to what Home Depot was selling the stove for) and for the install charge since Dan the installer did nothing! Our good deed of trying to keep the Ma and Pa local stores in business failed since the management and installers...

Less than a year ago I came to purchase a fairly expensive full size mattress. I was informed that it had a 10 year warranty which enticed me to decide to follow through with the purchase. As mentioned earlier I have not even had the mattress for a year and it began to develop a gully in the center. So I followed up with Johnson's and they sent over a "mattress inspector" to look at my mattress and see if it was damaged, or had a factory defect. The mattress inspector came and took a look at the mattress. He simply pressed down into the center of the bed, let it raise back up, then set up a measurement device. With a tiny ruler placed in the center of the rod he took a picture and that was it. He then took a few other photos of the mattress and then left. He did not press into the mattress again, sit on it, lay on it or anything. It was a disgrace of an inspection. A few days after I received a call from Johnson's and they "claimed" my mattress was ineligible for a replacement or even reimbursement. I spoke with the employee and explained how unsatisfied I was with the whole experience. The employee then said he would speak with a manager and get back to me. Since then it has been close to two weeks and I have yet to hear from anyone especially a manager at Johnson's. They were happy to take my money from the beginning but would not even raise a finger to help when I clearly have a issue the product I purchased. I am moving soon and was planning on buying a bigger more expensive mattress from their company, but after this experience I will gladly take my...
Read moreBased on our recent experience, we do not recommend buying a high end refrigerator floor model from Johnson's Appliance store in OCNJ. We had a 48" Viking refrigerator installed 3/21/25 and had a repairman out three times in a matter of weeks. The temperature did not stay cold and at the last visit, the repairman determined that it was a compromised unit based on pictures he took in and under the unit. The bottom of the unit was severely damaged. We contacted Viking and they saw on our invoice that it was a floor model and would not continue to have the unit repaired, nor replaced. We then contacted Brett, the owner of Johnson's Appliance. He did a lot of finger pointing and put the blame on the installers for the damage done to the refrigerator. His store recommended these installers. He also mentioned to us that this unit was used at a kitchen demonstration in Atlantic City before it was installed in their Ocean City store. If the salesperson, John P., would have told us this unit was previously at another location, we would never have purchased it. We've been without a refrigerator since 5/28. Owner of store reimbursed us for refrigerator and tax, but not the delivery or installation cost. We had carpentry work completed to accommodate this new built in, so we obviously need to replace it with the same type of refrigerator. The owner didn't have any empathy for our situation (time and frustration without a working refrigerator), and he was unwilling to work with us in offering any sort of discount on a new replacement...
