We had the absolute honor of hosting our wedding at The Flanders Hotel in Ocean City, NJ with 160 of our family and friends, and it was truly a dream come true from start to finish.
Lisa, the catering director, and Joanne, our maître d’were incredible—calm, professional, and completely in control of every detail throughout the entire day. They made sure we never had to worry about a thing. They were nothing short of outstanding. Molly, our amazing coordinator and assistant were the best!! Lisa and Molly’s expertise, warmth, and attention to detail during the entire planning process gave us complete confidence that our wedding was in the best hands. Molly was a total lifesaver—organized, attentive, and so kind, she anticipated our needs before we even realized them. She even captured some beautiful behind-the-scenes photos and shared with me shortly after!
The food was absolutely phenomenal. From the elegant cocktail hour (with our mashed and sweet potato bar) to the main courses, every dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and served with perfect timing. Our guests are still talking about how exceptional everything tasted.
The venue itself is breathtaking—historic charm, stunning architecture, and elegant spaces that make for the most incredible backdrop. Our wedding photos turned out gorgeous thanks to the beauty of The Flanders inside and out.
What impressed us most was the organization and seamless execution. Every moment flowed perfectly, every request was met with a smile, and the communication from the entire team was flawless. We were able to relax and soak in the joy of the day, knowing everything was completely under control.
Our wedding was truly seamless, stunning, and unforgettable, thanks to the amazing staff and beautiful setting at The Flanders Hotel. We are beyond grateful to Joanne, Lisa, Molly, and the entire team for giving us the wedding day we...
Read moreWe splurged and spent the $800+/night with 2 night minimum. I never stayed at Flanders before, it was new to all of us. We stayed in Promenade 201, 2 bedrooms/2 baths July 14-16. Made reservations at the restaurant downstairs, (called Emily’s in morning) for 10 on Thursday night, as family was in from Chicago. Flanders called me back to see if I wanted an INDOOR OR OUTDOOR table. INDOORS! Thx. Checking in was fine, desk girls were nice. Filled the jacuzzi tub in master bath, hit the button … nothing. Left a message. “Tiffany” calls me back, apologizes, takes $ off room for night, sends in repairman. Thursday night we were seated OUTSIDE, talked to hostess, her answer, “it’s all you can eat crab night”. Nothing she could do tho she had to open INDOOR tables; they were “reserved” oh okay. Too late to go elsewhere, we ended up in the tent. Meal was just okay. Back at room. Repairman says all’s well. Long day, fill jacuzzi….NOTHING. Call from desk, left a note for Tiffany. She calls Friday morning wanting to send a repairman. Checkout at 11:00 am and it’s 9:30 am, stay till 12 she says. Mind you we requested late checkout and were told no. Tiffany leaves me a message she took $$ off my bill (less than what she took off day before). In closing, thr 2 is for the visuals as it’s beautiful. Promenade 201 was DUSTY, jacuzzi & sink in master bath didn’t operate at all. Bedroom 2 no lights worked. So sad that administration doesn’t care as she was supposed to return my call the 19th of July. Tiffany had to “ask President” if she could take money off 2nd night for inoperable jacuzzi. Averaged $1,000.00 / night, shouldn’t it be in tip top shape? $150.00 credit, with promises of discounts if we decide to return. Such disappointingly amateurs in the unprofessional way place is run. What is presented as 5 star hotel is looks only, everything else … stay at...
Read moreI am writing this review in hopes that the General Manager and Director of the Hotel & Banquet Operations reads it. Allow me to begin that we were Summer residents of Ocean City for 5 years and then full time residents for over 20 years. We always had our home so we didn't need to stay at The Flanders, but we always wanted to. The hotel is an island landmark and we have attended Easter & Mother's Day brunches many times and always had a great time. So as you can imagine it was a total surprise that our stay was so poor. We had planned to stay in the penthouse, however between a water leak and also a live bat in our room, we switched rooms. Without those issues the room was musty and humid, the furniture was old, faded and smelled. I was shocked at the "penthouse" standard. Our next room was a 3 bedroom unit. It's clear the privately owned units are not kept up with standards of the hotel. The unit was filthy. The housekeeper who mopped our room - at our request - even stated & used "three rags to clean the floor, that never happens". The AC grates were covered in dust. The furniture was stained and faded. Again, we were excited to stay at the island landmark and we were totally shocked at the appearance. The hotel in general was moist, the awnings outside are totally full of bird waste and we were just shocked at the quality of the amenities in general. The staff on site was mortified of our experience in the penthouse and they did try their best to accommodate us. The location...you cannot beat. We had young kids so being on the boardwalk was key. I was really let down about our stay. It was 25 years in the making and a total disappointment. As an operations manager, I was appalled by these standards. I hope this review catches the eye of those who NEED to read it and make...
