5 star rating with a negative experience... 15 min. wait for seating found us at the bar getting a libation. Blueberry Lemonade was a hit! Very flavorful. I ordered a "sour" beer. When I asked the bartender what made it sour and what flavor was it he responded...verbatim..."Dude, I don't know. You need to Google it because I'm to busy" Really? Isn't his job customer service? Shouldn't he know what the beers are all about on his menu? This guy should only be busing tables because interacting with customers is NOT his fortee! Now the really good part... Our awesome server HALEY C came to the rescue once we were seated. Great personality, excellent customer service abilities and a self proclaimed beer geek. She told us that the beer the idiot (my word not hers) bartender sold me wasn't a sour...which I could tell from its taste. She told me actually what makes a beer sour and that is a great touch for an UBER knowledgeable server. Set me up with a tart beer that was tasty...see pic. We ordered our food. With the place hopping on a Sat. afternoon, service was very fast. Mac and cheese with Chix was bubbly hot, tasty and moist Chix. The Spinach and Fennel Salad was good, a bit small and very little fennel...see pics. But very fresh and tasty. Oh yah...this place is known for pizza and what we saw sure looked good...try that. With the day saved by Haley C. I would recommend this place highly on your next visit to Ogunquit. My advice...hire more like...
Read moreLet me begin by saying that I have previously owned property in Ogunquit and thus have established expectations for local eateries in town as a regular customer.
Today, I drove from Connecticut (2.5+ hours each way) to pick up three (3) lobster pizzas to bring home to friends and family. My husband requested, upon placing the order via phone, extra lobster - on the side - and we’d be willing to pay for the up-charge.
When I arrived in Ogunquit, I was shocked when the to-go tab read $200+ for the three pizzas. Yes, each pizza was prized at $71! Upon inquiring with the manager on duty, he explained that since I had ordered extra lobster, the pricing was correct. I pointed out the chalkboard sign located directly in front of the storefront that advertised lobster pizzas as $30 and subsequently questioned why “extra” lobster would cost more than twice the advertised price, especially considering that we had only requested extra lobster, and not double the order of the pizzas themselves! The manager said that the chalkboard was a “typo” and he could not offer any explanation for a $71 lobster pizza. In fact, he stated that he’d “rather not sell them to me at all” when I further questioned the pricing.
Avoid this place at all costs. Unfortunately, like many other establishments in town, Cornerstone has succumbed to taking advantage of those who they believe to be tourists - even in the midst of a pandemic - when they should be welcoming customers...
Read moreAlthough we have had two previous good experiences here, they really fell short last night. Pros: they will text you when your table is ready! We were told a 45 minute to 1 hour wait time for a table for 2, but they texted 24 minutes later saying the table was ready. Also, they have a good beer selection and I had excellent cocktails there in the past. Cons: the service was thoroughly average. Awkward waiter, very slow to get drinks and our pizza. Very few choices for real appetizers. The pizza was the biggest disappointment; even though we have ordered similar seasonal pizzas here before, this incarnation of the BBQ pulled pork pizza with house slaw was just bad. It was incredibly dry, the flatbread style dough/crust was hard, and the “house slaw” included several large thick slices of Brussels sprout, a handful of kale leaves, and maybe a small bit of carrot. There was no sauce evident anywhere, and I’m not sure how that combination of greenery qualifies as a slaw. Regardless, the only positives were the flavor of the pulled pork and the copious scallions. We were anxiously discussing where to go for dessert because we knew we wouldn’t be full off the pizza.
Unfortunately, this experience really soured us and we will probably go elsewhere for pizza next time we come...
