Never in my many decades of Staying in hotels, resorts and inns worldwide I felt so disrespected deceived and mistreated by a hotel manager and staff. While vacationing in Maine, we physically went to this location looking into a room so we could change towns and spend a couple of day in Ogunquit. The room that would have suited us was only available for 1 of the 2 nights we were looking for- we decided to book it and look to change to a different hotel for the other night. The front desk lady knew our situation and after my husband gave all the information to book the room ( 12.30pm)she said she could hold that room until the end of her shift ( 6pm) so we could decide, which we thought it was very nice of her. 30 minutes later we called to confirm and tell her to go ahead and process the credit card and the only thing I could hear was her saying “ oh my god- oh my god..) I asked her what happens and she said that someone through Expedia had just booked it.... but went on saying she was going to talk to her manager to overturn that booking and give us the room since we had been there first and was going to call us back within 20 mins which she did informing us that there was nothing they could do and had to give the room to the Expedia guest. We asked to passed us to the manager which we reluctantly did or tried to and came back saying the the manger was on a zoom meeting and she would call within an hour. Tanisha the manager did call back to inform us that there was absolutely nothing she could, that she was not going to “ kick out” a paying guest to accommodate us(?!?) I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, I went on to tell her that they are the one that made a huge mistake, that her staff guaranteed us to hold that room for us until the end of the day which was still 5 hours away. I told her that anytime one reserves a room in a hotel, a table at a restaurant or a seat in airplane that is should be taken out of the pool until the reservation expires and they failed to do so and she had no problem in “kicking us out “ even thought we had the preference. I asked what was her solution since they created a huge problem and she said she had NONE! I told her I was going to put a review up in every outlet I could find to make people aware of what kind of service they are providing she said I could even call and talk to the owner Sergio the next day since he was not there at that time if I wanted, that he was aware of the situation and wouldn’t do anything anyway. After that my phone went mute... I was in total shock how can a hotel get away with this type of behavior. It’s beyond my comprehension to say the least. So, if your stay there is seamless kudus but good luck dealing with this kind of staff if you run in any kind of problem with them. By the way there much better places to stay in...

Having been Mainers since birth, we find that there is no lack of beauty or nature to be enjoyed. That was quite true for our stay at Terrace by the Sea. Sitting along Shore Road the quaint inn overlooks the river and Ogunquit beach. Stunning changes to landscape with every high and low tide.
Breakfast outside on the porch while watching early morning beach goers and energized pipers made a great start to our days.
Being right next to the walkway bridge it was idealic for walking to and from the beach or for connecting to the Marginal Way Walk.
For our stay we enjoyed three nights. The first two we stayed in room 106 and the last night in room 110. Room 106 sits upstairs in the middle facing the sea and shares a partially private balcony. Only three rooms share the balcony so it makes for a relaxing place to sit and unwind. It has a king been own bathroom, and plenty of space for a short 2 to 4 day stay.
Room 110 was a larger space with one queen bed and one twin. It had a lovely view of the ocean and garden space. No balcony but you don't need it with the view you enjoy from the large picture window. The space is great for long stays. You could easily fit three folks in there and not feel like you are on top of each other.
Overall experience was great!
Perks The cost per night is one of the most reasonable rates we have seen. Even in the peak season you can easily find a great rate. Every staff we met was absolutely lovely and sweet. They are for sure on top of their game when it comes to customer service. Location was idealic. I mean you not only enjoyed the sea and rive but felt nh part of town as well. Loved it. Food was ok for breakfast. It is a very simple continental breakfast but how much does one really need? Looking for a more hardy breakfast no worries, there are plenty of places to go to.
Critiques Not really a crituqe but an interesting experience. On our first morning after each of us took a shower our alarm in the bathroom went off. Not a big deal for us but I am sure a bit annoying for other guests who may have sleeping at 8:30am. Then on our last night at around 11pm the whole place had the alarms go off without knowing why. On the plus side it was a great chance for an impromptu meet and greet. Lastly, there is nobody there for staff after 10pm. Not a big deal but makes it hard to alert staff of alarms at...
Read moreThis property is in an amazing location, very close to the beach, and the local restaurants and shops, all very easily walkable. The house overlooks the water, and is set in lovely gardens, with an outdoor patio area and garden seating. On checking in, we were told that our room was a door directly behind us about 10 steps away from the front desk. There is no light inside the door until you proceed down the corridor to the main part of the room. The wardrobe area was another room accessed via an opening in the wall, and was separated from reception by a glass door covered by a curtain. We needed a torch to find the light switch for this area. which is on the opposite wall. The room was immaculately clean. It was very dismal and needed to have the lights on, given that the main window is completely covered by a tree growing directly outside. Another small window allows a view to the ocean. This window is directly next to one of the main doors to the building and had numerous people using that door looking directly into the room overlooking the bed. The blinds allowed through alot of light, meaning the room could not be darkened overnight as exterior lighting kept the room quite light, despite blinds being closed. In the morning, the light from the sunrise shines directly through the blind, and into our eyes the thin paper blind doing little to filter this out. At bedtime we found one of the sheets was badly marked, and had to have this replaced. The noise of someone vacuuming near front desk was clearly audible as we tried to sleep. Breakfast offers a good selection included in the price, with the option to eat on the patio area overlooking the ocean. However the noise from the staff preparing breakfast was quite intrusive so early in...
