STAY AWAY - STAY AWAY - Worst experience ever and I will never be back. My husband went in with my son and found a great deal on a shotgun. I have a few guns I’ve used for sport and practice and some just in my home for protection. My husband gas been trying to convince me to get a 12 gauge for a while. I own a 20 gauge and have shot a 12 gauge a few times and have wanted one but didn’t want to spend a ton so when he found this deal I jumped at it. I also own 2 AR15’s so I have a decent collection of guns mainly for sport and protection. My husband can’t even shoot a shotgun let alone a handgun as he has 1 bad shoulder and another artificial shoulder that he has been told he could never shoot a rifle again. So when I met him there to buy it the young kid behind the counter ask for my drivers license. I gave it to him then he asked who this was for and I told him me and my husband even said her. She’s been looking. So we thought he was running the background check but instead went to get the manager and accused me of doing a strong purchase. My husband said regardless of him or my son shooting it I’m buying it for me. Just because I buy it doesn’t mean I’m not going to let my son or husband if he could shoot learn how to use it. So they refused to sell it to us. You have lost my Business for good and I will make sure everyone I know takes their business somewhere else. It was my purchase and my background check. I should be allowed to let my son shoot the gun if one day heaven forbid he should need to use it to defend himself or our family. Clearly I didn’t have any rights as a us citizen and gun owner to purchase a gun. Absolutely a joke. I’ve never had so much as a traffic ticket yet this store treated me like I was a world...
Read moreI'm not usually one to want to write a terrible review, I write honestly for future shoppers. I feel like the service here was awful I had to just write it out.
I went to Al's Sporting Goods (Orem location) over the weekend and most of the staff here was TERRIBLE! There was one girl who said hello to us & asked if we needed help, this is the only nice thing I have to say about the employees. I needed help with finding a product. When I went looking: one employee was just chatting with his friend, I went to go find someone else, I see two employees talking to each other, one in a black shirt (a manager?) and one in a blue shirt, when I am about 10 feet away they both turn away from each other like they were getting caught goofing off & just stood looking away from me, they didn't even acknowledge me! I had to say loudly if one of them could help me. One of them directed me back to the area & had someone else help me. What a joke!!! Then when I was walking through the shoe area there were three employee's just talking to each other not even asking if I needed help looking for something in particular. The cashiers were female & they were pleasant. So I'm guessing all the male employees are just a bunch of jerk-bros.
The only saving grace of the whole experience was that I found a great deal on a sleeping bag and coat. I only reason I will most likely shop here again is based off the prices since they are a little lower than REI, otherwise I'd say don't shop...
Read moreAfter an unacceptable experience with returning an online order to the store. I am changing my review to one star. DO NOT PURCHSE FROM AL'S ONLINE. Purchases online and returned to the store should be instant. Their system is not able to give you any evidence that you have returned the item to the store. You have to wait and HOPE for an email. Shouldn't take "up to ten days" to get your money back. Some employees appear to be inadequately trained for online returns. VIP has great pricing most of the time. But do your home work. Other stores might have better regular pricing. A rifle scope vip price at $1519.00 seems to be a great deal, but can be bought at Gunnies for $1449.00 (regular price). It appears Al's uses an inflated msrp to calculate the vip price. So you think you are getting a great sale price off of msrp. Other items are great deals using the vip program. I probably would not shop at Al's without it. They should just show all items with vip price on the tags. And offer every customer a chance to sign up for it at the register. Department manager (Cort) will go out of his way to help you with anything. I will continue to shop there and price check them before I make a purchase. Calling the customer service line is a waste of time. All you will get is a teenager that is only there for a paycheck and could really care less about actual...
