This place is the truth. These guys go all over the world to collect the rarest LPs you'll ever find this side of the atlantic. Original pressings from West Africa and old Latin grooves from all over. If you're into that kinda stuff you know how hard it is to find at all these other record stores that just sell expensive re-issues at crazy prices. The prices for these originals are high but fair, this stuff is rare as all hell. Brooklyn, one of the proprietors of the shop knows his stuff like no other. The guy loves what he does and knows every label and band you could think of. This place was like no other record shop I've ever been to and its in Orlando Florida of all places. I left here with an original record of some Ghanian highlife and 2 45's of the small press Mr Bongo label from the UK who reprints of some killer old African funk tracks. I'd never even heard of them but I told Brooklyn what kind of bands I liked and he played these for me and I bought them instantly. Just go. If you like...
Read moreGreat selection of music, and I love the vibe of the store but unfortunately everything is way overpriced. If you see a title in the store that you are interested in, I would suggest checking ebay first. They have several very common records selling for $30 and up just because someone sampled the record or because there is a break beat on it.
Response to Owner. I would have given a 2.5 rating if it was possible. I gave the store a positive compliment to augment the negative feedback. I only suggested that your records are overpriced. You can’t help but feel cheated when you purchase a record in your store for $30 or $40 and later you find it on eBay for $5 or $10. As diggers we have all experienced that, it’s part of the game. Despite the prices in your store I did...
Read moreThere are many great things to say about this shop, it is clean, well organised and well stocked, situated in what looks like a more upscale/business setting. The owner is a nice guy, and from what I can tell, so are his clientele. He has a lot of great records in stock and they seem to be in fine condition as well. For the more casual collector, this is a good thing, but for the record shark (like me), not so much.
We record hunters can't have it both ways. You can't have lots of desirable items in stock and the prices be low, so that's the drawback for me. I did buy an album and a 45, but overpaid significantly for both (in my opinion), but I am very cheap! If you're into soul/jazz/funk and want to buy some proper classics, you may well be able to...
