If I could give them a 0, I would.
Because of covid, I decided I would see what Chico's had in their online store and pick it up rather than spending a lot of time in a store. There was an extra 10% discount if you purchased online and picked up so that helped.
I found several items, went to the store to pick up, tried them, and on a couple didn't work. The 'manager' then just cancelled the online order and rang up what I bought. I didn't notice at the time, doing it this way means I didn't get the 10% extra discount but I was fine with that.
The next day I ordered a few more items. When I went to pick up, 2 items didn't fit so I said I wouldn't take them. She was going to cancel the order and ring it up again but since it was for 9 tops, the extra 10% discount was going to be significant and I said I still wanted that discount. The same 'manager' said she would then just have me sign for it all, including the 2 items I was not taking out of the store, then give me a refund for the 2 items. But when she had done that and I was waiting for her to do the refund, she said that she would do it later because it took 20 minutes. She was flipping through some manual they had about how to do this refund and couldn't seem to figure it out. She would send me confirmation of the refund to the email address I had bought the items on.
That seemed a bit strange but given my past track record with this store, I thought it would be OK. Silly me.
A couple of hours later, I still had not received the refund to my Paypal account so I called to check on it. The 'manager' had not only gone home, she had gone on vacation! The clerk I spoke to was very impatient, said she had tried to do the refund, but she couldn't get it to go through and would try again in an hour.
The next day in early afternoon I again called the store because there was no sign of the refund. Same clerk, except this time she told me she had done it. I said it hadn't turned up in my Paypal account.....she started shrieking at me (my husband in the other room got up from his chair to see what was going on because he could hear her) about how it had taken 3 hours and I should be grateful that she had done it. There was no way I could even get a word in edgewise. Then she hung up on me.
I contacted Chico's online customer service line. Several days later I got an email saying that they had given me a refund (the Chico's line, not the store whose refund never did show up). Four days later, no refund showing from either source.
I had to go through Paypal claims to get the refund.
The whole episode has left me not ever wanting to shop in a Chico's again, whether in a...
Read moreI’ve been to the Chico’s in Palm Springs twice now, especially since the Palm Desert store is temporarily closed, and I just have to say—the ladies here are truly amazing.
They were so kind, patient, and helpful as I was handling some returns on behalf of a friend who’s ill. They couldn’t have been nicer about it—not once did they make me feel rushed or uncomfortable. Honestly, in today’s world, it’s rare to find people who are genuinely warm and gracious like that. They deserve an award for their patience!
While I was waiting, I watched them greet regular customers like old friends, and the whole atmosphere of the store was just… happy. You can tell they love what they do, and it shows in how they treat everyone who walks in the door—even when the store is clearly busy.
They made a possibly awkward errand feel easy, and I left smiling both times. Great team,...
