Pros: The pool was huge. On days that the wind wasn’t blowing hard the resort had umbrellas set up every 4 lounge chairs. This was great to be able to get out of the direct sunlight. The on-site t-shirt airbrush shop was great! Also, I really liked there was a security guard working 24/7 that had to allow you into the property. Employees were extremely nice! Huge Con: Our room was very outdated! It was nothing like an example photo online! I understand decor and furniture would be different however this was not the case. First, the couch, love seat, bedroom furniture looked as if it had been there since the 80’s and was very worn and torn. The patio seats were ripped. There was an outlet in the living room that did not have a cover on it that was not hidden by furniture. The ceiling tiles seemed moldy in spots. The bathtubs looked dirty but it was in fact just really old. I kept getting stuck in the bathroom because the knob was horrible! The refrigerator was leaking and we made a call to inform the staff. No one ever came out to look at it and by our last day the freezer had completely quit working. The stove was old and a burner wasn’t working but after fiddling with it we got it to work. The walls were a dingy yellow/tan color. There were no overhead lights in the bedrooms and the lamps were very dim. I had to open blinds to be able to really see, but yet those blinds are where people walking by can see in. The tv in the living room was very small, not a smart tv and couldn’t locate the DVD player remote. Last year at the Majestic (sister property) our condo had a smart tv which was fantastic! We could log into our various streaming services to watch tv. The tv in one of bedrooms was a box tv with the VHS built in. Basically, I believe when the tv was manufactured this is the year they stopped decorating and updating the room as well. I was highly disappointed in the room. I typically do not complain but I felt the owner of this condo is stealing money from hard working folks who expect more from a nice resort like this. I called to the front desk and explained everything. The staff member was understanding and from her tone and words she gets this complaint a lot. She checked to see if she could move me but nothing was available for the entire length of our stay. She noted the account and they would be issuing a credit (she did not know how much). It ended up being $50. Seriously, 50 bucks?!? I was expecting at $150 which would be half of a one night stay. We were there a full week, so a $2400 stay credited $50 was not what I would expect. I would think the resort manager/company would have a standard that they have for these condos and if the owners do not keep to the standards that the company would make the upgrades and bill the owner.
The resort itself is great! I would love to stay here again if I could guarantee my money would be for a room that doesn’t make me feel...
Read moreBeach lounge chairs have been removed and folding beach chairs only offered, for $408 for 6 days. Pool chairs are rented at $408 for 6 days. Outrageous. We paid $175 for 6 days in Orange Beach,AL.Resort has gotten greedy.
The week of May 6-13, the Iron Man Competition blocked off the majority of the parking lot of Tower II, beginning on Wednesday afternoon, which left only a couple of rows of parking that everyone was vying for. If you left your parking spot, you may never (and probably wouldn't), get it back. It's easy to say park on the other side of the other towers parking. My wife cannot walk on her bad hip to the other side of the other towers parking lots (which there was no direct access). One couple we talked to, the wife had just had knee replacement surgery and could not walk that far either. This is a PCB event, but it specifically took up over 3/4's of the Edgewater Tower II parking lot.
We rent a condo to enjoy the beach and to come and go to the local seafood restaurants, but we were not able to leave the parking space from Wednesday- Friday to go out to eat, for the risk of not being able to get back close to the unit. We missed being able to dine out at some of our favorite seafood restaurants.
Ironically, there were 6 new golf carts sitting right outside the Tower that could have been used to ferry residents back and forth to the other parking lots, but no one was there to do that, and could have solved the parking problem. No one is thinking about the inconvenience it causes the residents. The competition should pay for the golf carts to shuttle residents that are displaced by the parking being blocked off. Perhaps the owner's can avoid these issues by not being there that week, but it doesn't help their renters. Everyone was focused on the athletes which did not need assistance. We even got yelled at by a sheriff's deputy when we tried to cut across the parking lot to walk to the unit and no one was in the empty parking lot. We were made to walk around the whole blocked off area which was empty. Which is ironic as we paid for our condo and parking.
We were told by the Iron Man staff, if we waited until the competition started on Saturday morning we may be delayed getting out of the parking lot until the athletes were in and out (1,500 athletes), as the athletes come first, but we had a 10 hour drive back and we couldn't wait around and left at 4:00 AM. We aren't asking for a refund, but we are disappointed that we were not made aware of this event as we could have made other plans. We paid $450 more to come here than if we had stayed in Orange Beach and ended up with a miserable vacation. If the Edgewater staff is not going to accommodate the parking issue, then renters need to know what is going to impact their vacation plans when booking that week. If I were a Tower II owner, I would urge a change in their parking problem to renters...
Read moreSince we discovered that the Gulf Coast beaches are far more beautiful, cleaner and have warmer, clearer water than those in our home state of California, we've been vacationing at different beach towns along Florida's Gulf Coast for the past several years. Of all the places we've stayed, the Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort is, by far, the very best! It has 11 pools (10 are heated year round), 4 jacuzzis, a really nice water play area for little kids, tennis courts, pickleball courts, a great health club, restaurants, shops, nice landscaping, a free tram around the huge property, and a 9 hole golf course - more amenities than any other place we've found! And all the amenities are available for no extra charge to the Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort guests (except the golf course). The pools, jacuzzis, beach and grounds are all kept immaculately clean. The only downside of this resort is that we wish that the coffee & ice cream shop were open for longer hours. Unlike most other places in the area, parking at Edgewater is abundant, ground level, and very convenient - no driving up 10 to 15+ stories of parking garages to find your single designated parking spot, as we'd previously experienced at other places we've stayed. We didn't have to wait more than about 3 minutes for an elevator at Edgewater Resort and didn't have any trouble finding poolside lounge chairs - both of which were also welcome changes. There are shops, great restaurants and St. Andrews State Park, and Conservation Park with great hiking trails nearby as well.||Our very favorite condo at Edgewater is Tower 2 #1205 - it's beautifully decorated, sparkling clean and gorgeous with huge ocean views! It's a penthouse unit with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a balcony, plus a large rooftop sundeck with lots of seating for dining outside. It feels like a good value for the money, considering everything the condo and resort have to offer. The condo is well stocked with beach chairs, sand toys, beach umbrellas, volleyballs, games, books, 4 large TVs with Roku, and everything else we and our kids wanted. The kitchen has granite counters, cooking/dining supplies, and new appliances; there's also a full size washer and dryer in the condo. We've stayed there a couple of times now and haven't heard any noise from the neighbors. Looking down from the balcony & sundeck, there's a pool with a big waterfall, a jacuzzi, and a beach volleyball setup - just steps away from the condo! Since it's on the 12th floor, we saw dolphins swimming by almost every day we there; there's great sunrise views in the mornings, and also sunset views over the ocean from the sundeck and balcony - we...
