RACIST LOCATION-Racially profiled at this location. DO NOT SHOP HERE!
Story: I purchased several items from the sugarland location. I spent about $330 on all the items. The Nike joggers that I purchased were my correct size but did not fit properly. So I returned them, it had been a few weeks since I originally purchased them. I was already in pearland so I went to this location.
Sandra(Hispanic lady), the cashier that was processing the return/exchanged stated that the pants were coming up in the system as "girls" Nike joggers instead of women joggers when she typed the item numbers in their hand-help machine. However on the receipt it came up as women's joggers in which I paid $70+ bucks. She called the manger, Jordan Stewart(Caucasian/White male) over and he begins to wispier to Sandra and then says that you would have to complete it as a "return with no receipt" and could only give me $2.50 back. I took the item and put it back in the bag.
I called the sugarland location and explained the matter. I described the person that checked me out at the SL location and the time when I purchased my items. He told me to come to that store before he got off to ensure that he helps me.
The manger there helped me with great customer service and professionalism. I explained the situation again and insisted that he can check the cameras here. He explained that it was no need for that and that whoever put the tags on that day could have put the wrong tag on the joggers. He explained that this happens often & that this location is getting better at not doing this. He allowed me to exchange the joggers and allowed me to keep the other ones. Which I will donate to the secondary school that I work at.
The manger at the sugarland location said that the cashier and manger at PEARLAND put it in the system as a "no return" implying that I would not be able to return the item AT ALL!
After carefully assessing the situation Sandra and Jordan assumed that I took/stole the joggers from another Dicks location and or a entire different store and trying to get a "refund" and did not approach the situation correctly. They did not offer to call the sugarland location to verify anything or to see if there were any issues within their inventory etc. Sandra and Jordan saw a black woman come to exchange an item (although they thought I was trying to get a refund) and assumed that I was trying to receive money for a stolen item which in fact it wasn't.
After getting this matter settled at the sugarland location. I drove back to the pearland location to retrieve the cashier name, the manger name, store number and corporate number. I did ask for the district manger contact information but apparently I am not allowed to have that information. The cashier tried to lie about the store number as well!!!
The reason why I truly believe that I was racially profiled at the PEARLAND location is due to their approach to the situation and the lack of true professionalism. As someone that worked in retail for 3+ years in undergrad. I know exactly how they were suppose to handle the situation but due their own bias and prejudices they racially profiled me and did not help at all. I only received a little professionalism when I returned back to gather all the information.
FIY: the pants look exactly the same so I can see how they could have possibly put the wrong tag on them.
DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE! Customer service sucks and they are racist. It is highly disappointing that these type of people represents SPORTING DICKS COMPANY and brand. I've been shopping at this company for...
Read moreI came to the Pearland location on two separate occasions. The first time was to purchase a bike. I was completely blown away by the young lady that helped me and her knowledge pertaining to the bike. She helped me to understand about needing to be fitted for a bike and she help me to understand all of the intricate details that go along with purchasing a bike. Unfortunately that bike was not a good fit for me after I tested it with my family the following evening, so I needed to return it. I got the opportunity to work with a young man named Cesar. Cesar was absolutely amazing. He was so knowledgeable and so friendly, & extremely pleasant to work with. By the time that I was able to actually test the bike was beyond the 24 hour period that your policy states. Because of my kids being in virtual school we weren’t able to test it until after they got out of school and by that time it was beyond the timestamp on the original receipt. So, when I got home that evening I called and that’s when I first met Cesar.
After speaking to me he told me that he would allow me to return it and be fitted for another bike. I told him that I couldn’t come that evening because I had to get the kids ready for bed but I could come the following morning and he said that was OK. So I arrive the following morning and to my pleasure he was there and he was an amazing help. He right off the bat knew exactly what bike would be beneficial for me. He had it ready for me to try once I arrived at the store. And then he help to locate a store that had one in stock. He called the Baybrook location to see if there was one in stock and found that there was only one available in a box. When he was asking the gentleman to assemble the bike prior to my arrival he got a very unsatisfactory response and he told me that it didn’t seem like this person really wanted to help or assemble the bike. He told me that if I had any problems to bring the bike back to his store and he would do whatever needed to be done as far as making sure it was in the most pristine condition.
When I got to the baybrook store I encountered the same unsatisfactory response from Thomas in the bike section. He was not very eager to help. He was not very friendly and he just didn’t give off the presence that he wanted to help anyone. So anyway, I took the bike even after asking Thomas at the Baybrook store to run through the checklist before I signed off on it and he told me he could not do that in front of me because he already did it in the back and that’s where the stand was for the bikes. So I went ahead and signed it and then I took the bike back to the Pearland location and Cesar immediately took the bike set it up on the stand and fixed everything. The brakes were off the tension was off the tires needed airing as he did a complete set up on the bike and he told me as he was doing it that all of these things that were wrong but because I’m not a bike person and I don’t really understand what needed to be done I can’t relay what exactly needed to be done but the point is is that the person at the other location didn’t do what was required and Cesar did above and beyond what was required so this survey or feedback is just to shine light on just a wonderful person and how much his customer service plays a role in that by Department at the...
Read moreVery poor customer service. in town for business purposes. Went in to purchase a name brand pair of shoes (not cheap) to replace the ones I currently have. Got to the shoe department and was standing there looking over the shoes for several minutes. Several employees walk by without asking if I needed assistance. I finally had to flag down one employee and asked if they had my comparable shoe, in the same brand. He looks and finds one he says is similar, so he goes and brings it to me - then vanishes. I try on the shoe - it does not have the same features that I needed with my current shoe. Employee is not around to ask questions about the fit, etc.
I have to go to the back room to flag him down and ask to bring the other pair I asked about. I go back, sit down, and he brings me a new pair of a newer, similar model. And goes back to put the first pair away. Does not return to ask if the new pair are better. Well, they are. Much better fit, feel, etc. I bought the shoes because I needed a new pair to help with pain in my joints.
I guess I should not have purchased the shoes and let a manager know the reason was for the non-existent customer service.
If you expect great customer service - I do not recommend this particular Dick's Sporting Goods.
Maybe this review will get someone's...
