Dark Depths Games â A Collectorâs Paradise with Fishtown Soul
This place isnât just a shopâitâs a destination. Dark Depths Gamesâ loot is a treasure trove of trading card game goodness, from vintage PokĂŠmon to the latest Japanese and English packs. Their selection is vast and thoughtfully curated, perfect for collectors who know what theyâre looking for and those who just want to explore.
Beyond cards, the shelves are stocked with Gundam and anime model kits (I grabbed a stunning Solgaleo myself), plushies, dice, binders, playmats, music, postersâyou name it. Every visit feels like stepping into a space where fandom and artistry meet.
The service is exceptional: warm, attentive, and community-centered. It has that familiar, familial Fishtown vibe that makes you feel like youâre part of something special. I come here regularly, and each time, I leave not just with great finds but also with a sense of connection.
Conveniently located right off the 57 bus route with easy parking, itâs a smooth trip every time. Whether youâre deep into the TCG world or just starting out, Dark Depths is a must-visit gem.
Update July 5, 2025:
Iâve reviewed this gem before, but after today, I had to share more. I recently lost a few cards Iâd purchased here, and the team didnât just helpâthey found them and held them for me. That kind of honesty and responsiveness is rare, and it shows how much they care about their craft and their customers.
This shop is the real deal. Itâs vibrant, full of life, and clearly growingâwith people browsing, chatting, and supporting a space that feels like home for collectors. The staff love what they do, and it shows in every interaction and every shelf stocked with care.
I want to be a good patron and support them as often as I can. Theyâve earned that loyalty not just through their inventory, but through their integrity. If youâre into trading cards or just want to experience a place built on passion and trust, Dark...
Read moreWent in perfectly ready to buy some citadel paints and the guy with blondish hair and glasses tried to sell me on Pro Acryl. I politely declined and he went on further. I was still not interested because I would have to find a conversion chart to citadel and I'm at the end of my day of working overnight and doing college in the morning and just wanted to get my paints before my weekend and go home and go to sleep. He then asked how I'd like to paint my minis and I said lore-accurate "sorry if you wanna do it that way but it's a hobby not a jobby" I was shocked like how is that ok to say? Not only that but he said that line a few times while I was trying to find a chart. I can get trying to sell merchandise but telling someone that the way they want to paint their minis is somehow wrong because it's not creative enough? I mean I pulled out my phone to look for a chart and he didn't relent saying "you're just gonna spend more time looking at your minis here than playing with them" I got sick of it said "you sure are making me feel like I'm doing it wrong" and walked out. I don't plan on coming back after that encounter because of how unbelievably unprofessional it was. It's a shame because I'm just getting into Warhammer, this place is right next to where I live, and I was ready to drop hundreds of dollars here but now I have to shop elsewhere because this guy couldn't be...
Read moreWhen I first walked into this place, I thought it was interesting to have a shop dedicated to the specific niche of black metalheads, MTG spikes, and Warhammer players. After going here time and time again, let it be known that if you fall into that niche, at least in part, there's probably no better shop for you on planet Earth. (And if you don't fit the black metal niche, don't worry. The staff are all very sweet, helpful, and have great senses of humor.) The amount of stock they have in this shop is massive. I've been able to count on one hand the number of cards they've been unable to find for me, and I've built dozens of MTG decks just with what they have there across all number of formats. As for pricing, you probably won't find any place more reasonable on the east coast. Every facet of their community blends together so amazingly that, not only have I expanded my music taste on top of my MTG skill, I've also spent several hundred dollars on records just sifting through the shelves. Special shoutout to Gibbi, a true pillar of the hardcore and the MTG community. He, along with everyone else on staff, make this neighborhood one of the best to play cards...
