Was walking home when the store caught my eye, figured I’d pop in. Was greeted by Mama Zee, one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. She took me around and showed me a bunch of plants that would fit what I needed, and was so helpful and kind. Was looking for a present, ended up getting 3, which she boxed up beautifully and wrote the name in perfect calligraphy on the top. Her and her friend Mari were starting up a game and invited me to join. Ended up staying for well over an hour and getting whooped by both of them in scrabble with some great tea, delicious fresh fruit and lots of laughter. Got to see people come in and get treated with the same exact grace and love and humor that, I was, made me feel incredible blessed to have stumbled upon this gem. My sisters and I were visiting Philly for a conference and wandering the city with open hearts and curious feet. Earlier that day, we were in a little bookstore when my sister asked me about A Course in Miracles. As a student of metaphysics, I smiled and said, “You can borrow mine.”

Hours later—guided more by intuition than direction—we walked into The Jade Forest and met the luminous Mama Z. Within minutes, she mentioned A Course in Miracles out of the blue. Goosebumps. It felt like the universe confirming: yes, you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

The shop is beautiful—lush, earthy, full of soulful treasures—but let’s be real: Mama Z is the magic. She’s an artist, a plant whisperer, a cosmic auntie who drops wisdom without even trying.

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of plants available at the shop, the beautiful way they're potted in shells, and the reasonable prices - but far more impressive are the warmth and customer service you get from Mama Z and her daughter Casey. Mama Z took the time to show me multiple gorgeous plants within my price range, gave me some background info on each (which was desperately needed as someone with the opposite of a green thumb), and carefully packaged my plant with extra trinkets added on, free of charge. She also does stunning calligraphy! Mama Z is a lovely conversationalist. Her kind energy radiates through and is infectious. I am so looking forward to going back any chance I get!
