I have lived here for more than 3 years with my husband. The only reason we are still here is because this is the only location we can both walk to work and not drive in the city. If you are considering living here you might find my experience very useful. The management team in the building has a high turn over rate. They are not very prompt or helpful. During my residence here I have had multiple issues where it got very frustrating to deal with getting attention and have the issue addressed and the cases where I got response the problem happened many more times. There has been problems with having hot water during winter time where they addressed it in a relatively timely manner but during the last 3 winters it kept happening several times. Then there was the problem of the air conditioning not working which has happened a few times but was not fixed promptly. There is supposed to be an emergency phone number which is funny to call it that because we never got a fast enough response from them. I am 7 months pregnant and sweating like crazy in general, with AC not working just today and being on the 7th floor it is impossible to get sleep in the apartment and there is no response since this morning when the problem started. My husband and I have reached out to everyone we could multiple times. I am literally just sitting on the couch with a small fan close to my face. I am not able to do anything else because I feel I might get over heated. When we found out we were pregnant we asked to be shown a bigger unit when it gets available, when the time came to look at it we found out the leasing office was closed and we were told they will open at 2 even though our appointment was supposed to be at 12 o'clock. So we left our phone number with the front desk and asked them to call us at 2 when someone gets there. No one ever showed up or called us. Lastly but not the least problem, I found a half dead mouse in the living room and i called and talked to multiple people to have an exterminator come in and take care of the problem. For weeks I was told their exterminator only comes in on Mondays and every single week I reminded them and they missed us every single week for 6 weeks until I gave up. We have decided to stick it out another 6-9 months until baby is big enough to move. Right now is very difficult to move being close to my delivery and with my heavy...
Read moreI wish I could give zero stars for my experience with Riverloft Apartments. Despite paying premium rent, the property is plagued with issues that management either can’t or won’t resolve. During my lease:
•Elevators: Chronic, ongoing problems with both passenger and freight elevators made living here a nightmare. Between September and May, I received over 20 emails about elevator outages, delays, and excuses. Even now, friends in the building report that these issues persist. How long until this becomes a safety hazard?
• Maintenance and Cleanliness: Upon moving in, the garbage disposal was leaking, and the toilet paper holder fell off. A few months later, the closet collapsed, the smoke detector needed to be replaced, and a large blind fell down, nearly hitting me. While these issues were addressed within a week, they never should have happened, underscoring the outdated and poorly maintained nature of the property. Additionally, the cleanliness of the building is subpar. The dog waste stations in the garage are not emptied as often as they should be, frequently overflowing and causing a foul odor. I’ve also encountered dead mice in the garage, further emphasizing the lack of proper upkeep.
•Lease Renewal: The property proposed a $124 rent increase despite offering no improvements to justify the hike. When I pushed back, citing the poor living conditions, management refused to meet me halfway or provide any meaningful perks.
•Move-Out Charges: Upon vacating, I was charged $275 for repainting due to “damage” that amounted to normal wear and tear. Hanging art or placing furniture against walls is apparently forbidden unless you want to be gouged later. I even spackled before leaving after reading some of the google reviews. Management’s response was dismissive and condescending, further proving they prioritize profits over tenant satisfaction.
I cannot recommend Riverloft Apartments to anyone. Over 20 emails about elevator outages, unresolved maintenance issues, unfair move-out charges, and unaccommodating management show this building is overpriced, poorly maintained, and mismanaged. If you value transparency, responsiveness, and peace of mind,...
Read moreI lived at the Riverlofts for 6 years. During that time my experience was as follows:
While the building is located in a beautiful neighborhood, there were consistently issues with the amenities they offer (ex. Elevators were frequently out of service)
My rent increased every single year I lived here, despite no updates/improvements being made to my apartment, the building, or community spaces. It got to the point where my lease was $400+ more than the vacant units they were advertising online (same exact floorplans). When I asked about this, the management team ignored my question and refused to match the rate ON THEIR OWN SITE.
The property staff (desk managers, maintenance team, etc.) were lovely. My one star goes to them and them only.
Expect to be nickel and dimed when you try to end your lease. The move out guide specifies that you will be charged for any damage beyond "reasonable wear and tear." However, as I found out, and it seems other people also experienced (after reading their reviews), you will be charged for any mark, hole, or scrape left in the apartment. Basically, unless your walls are spotless and/or you don't hang any paintings while living in your apartment, you will almost certainly be charged unnecessarily high cleaning fees upon moving out. Additionally, despite being on a month-to-month lease before leaving, I was charged a $5000 dollar fine because I didn't give a 60 day notice before vacating. I'm not quite sure what the purpose of a month-to-month lease is if it isn't to give you the freedom/flexibility to leave when you want. Management also conveniently didn't inform me that I would be charged until after I had already moved out.
The actual apartments are ok but are hard to clean (very high ceilings), have poor appliances (with especially bad water pressure), and constantly in a state of disrepair (my A.C. broke every single summer, without fail).
In summation - if you're looking for a luxury apartment in a nice neighborhood, that will treat you fairly and with respect, I would strongly recommend you rent elsewhere. DO NOT give this building...
