Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market — Local services in Phoenix

I drove 30 minutes to get to this market and was a bit disappointed. No free parking and the meters are off so it shows that you have two hours after you pay but your time runs out before then. Scam.

90% of the vendors were very unfriendly, seemed annoyed that they were there and weren’t helpful at all. If you’re there to sell, then acknowledge your potential customers. Only two vendors were friendly and helpful: Pam (of Pam’s Snacks) who makes cookies — she’s amazing — and Think Positive Apparel. The other vendors should take lessons from these two.

The variety was okay but not as vast as I had hoped. Produce vendors were the least friendly and prices were all over the place with little information about the farms where they come from.

Coffee vendor, Bluehouse, was particularly unfriendly and ignored me as a customer. Same with the essential oil/hand lotion/candle vendors. So many lost opportunities.

The RAD cold pressed juice vendor was daft and not knowledgeable at all. Really awkward with people and not very good at selling. No prices listed nor other information. Juice was really good though.

The artisan bread vendor has great baguettes — best I’ve had in the Phoenix aeea — but their croissants are just average.

I really enjoyed the Market! My Husband and Daughter came with me, and seemed to really enjoy it as well. First thing I saw was a Balloon Stand for the kids for the kids, they made flowers, dogs ands hats from what I saw. Very cute! My Husband was loving the free samples from all of the stands, so much so he filled up on them and didn't want lunch! There were multiple Farm Stands to choose produce from, which was just perfect! All had something different. There were Craft Stands as well as Food and Drink Stands and Food Trucks! I loved the Information Stand, they had booklets and pamphlets of what produce is in season and news about the Market. They also showed us that those on Food Stamps (EBT) are able to purchase food and goodies through a voucher they hand you to give and have filled out by the Stand Owners. I also saw that Woman Infants and Children (WIC) Checks are accepted. So if you are on any of those programs and want to feed your family Healthy, Fresh Food I recommend checking the Open Air Market out for sure! There are many more things I could say that make this place stand out but I have gone on long enough! I hope you check it out. I know we will be going again!

Update: I was a vendor, and sure I'm biased about it still, but after a year of vending here, my health worsened considerably, I could barely hold a though together with the chaos of different music, and I felt as though the vendors were being treated disparately once I was in it for a while. The last time I was there, I was asked to not come back even as a shopper by Samantha Jackson. I'm. not even sure what her role at the market is, because nothing has been updated on their website in over 2 years. It is no longer like a family to me, thanks largely to the change in management and lack of transparency.
