I had time to kill before a flight out of Phoenix Skyharbor Airport, so I decided to find a place close by for a massage. This was about 6 months ago. OMG, I cannot stop thinking about the massage I got at Relax Foot Spa! I've been wishing I could go back. I have never had a massage like this before. It was a full body pressure point massage. I have had several surgeries on my spine, including fusions, which have caused my posture to be pretty poor and I always have a lot of knots. After this massage I walked out of there pain free and standing taller and straighter than I have since before my last surgery.
I finally decided to track down the place so I could call them to ask what kind of massage they do so I can try to find a practitioner here in Minneapolis (where I live) who might be able to replicate the massage I had in Phoenix. I was SO glad I found them. I found out they do a technique that is pretty common on the coasts and out west: Chinese pressure point massage. Now I know what to look for here. GO to Relax Foot Spa! You won't be sorry.
I also want to comment on the people here who gave this place bad reviews because of tipping issues. Let me just say, these massage therapists work VERY, very hard and they deserve to earn a decent wage for what they do. I was shocked by how little they charged for my massage. I wondered how they can possibly stay in business with pricing that low. And I realized the therapists probably get very little and they must have to rely on tips for the bulk of their earnings. So to all of you complaining that you were asked to tip??? Really? It takes a special kind of person to rub a stranger's bare bodies and gross feet. And I am sure they go home with sore hands and joints at the end of the day. And this type of work leads to early arthritis, which is quite debilitating. Leave a generous tip for goodness sake! I just looked up appropriate tipping for Chinese massage. The going rate is at least $10 ... and if you are being fair, $20 for a job well done. They earn every penny, so do the right thing! And remember....What goes around comes around, people. If you are good to others, you will be rewarded in kind...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI know that these people work really hard is this establishment, but this is my second time within the year getting a massage with this same individual.
My massage was not very relaxing needless to say. To begin with. The techniques were very choppy, rough, and very quick. š My feet were given the lathering of lotion followed by the quickness of the massage and sharp fingernails digging into my feet and almost scratching the crevices between my toes. I recoiled my feet a few times to give her a hint, and the same happened on the other foot. There wasnāt a gentle squeezing motion up and down my calf in a typical rub, but instead bony fingers causing a little bit of pain. So far, it was not going good.
I was asked to turn in my stomach to start my back. Okay so far so good. A pointy elbow Then disturbed the relaxing feeling.
Up and around my neck was skin to skin contact without any lavender lotion. The massaging of my shoulder muscles were intermittent and intense cause my head to shuffle back and forth like I was in a Jeep on rough terrain.
My cause of concern was she lifted up my shirt, applied lotion to her gloved hand (?)and proceeded to massage my upper glutes 2-3ā below my belt line. Iām surprised her coworker did say something in their native tongue. I think they are supposed to massage above the sheets?
I feel that Iām not going to return to this location. So please. If you read this Relax FS. Have this person cut their nails, slow down, and maybe just be the front...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went here with my boyfriend and got an hour long combination. I've been to this establishment priorly and have had nothing but great experiences. However, today was different. During the massage, the employees talked through the duration of the entire massage and laughed. In addition, the overall quality was lacking to the normal experience I've had there. When we finished up and left, they demanded a tip even though we payed using a gift certificate. I told them I'd give them 5, but the man preceded to push and said no ten per person. I didn't want to argue in front of the line and make a scene so I left the establishment. I called to file a complaint and was met with utter disregard and the woman answering the phone continued to say I was wrong and they were not talking. About 30 minutes later I get a call from a different woman, and was lectured. I understand that their employees work hour to hour, as do I, but when I come here to relax I expect to do so. I felt like I was in the middle of a conversation the entire massage. I appreciate that the boss stood up for her employees but there is a better way to do this then to lecture a customer and acuse them of being...
