Picture this. It’s a Saturday night, and four acquaintances all decide to go out to dinner after an evening church service. They don’t know each other super well, but they do know that the one thing they currently all had in common was that they were super hungry, so that was enough reason for them to all get dinner together. Never having been to Zupas before, the four meander into the empty building, unsure of the food offered there, only knowing there was a free chocolate strawberry involved with the purchase of a meal. They quietly stood in the back of the store, timidly scanning the menu in silence, waiting for one of the others to step up first to order. Before the silence could get any louder, however, one of the workers came to the front of the counter, and with a big smile said “whoever’s ready to go first, come at me. I’m ready for ya”. This gave the four enough confidence to take a step forward. The worker, whose name I may never get a chance to learn, immediately began lining up soup samples on the counter. The four took soup shooter after soup shooter. Each one they took, the more confident they became. The worker was going crazy mixing soups together, making different combinations, getting excited when one soup got praises of approval. I’ve truly never met someone as passionate about soup and salad as this girl. She upsold the chipotle chicken salad so hard and boy was she right about every word she said. I’ll forever be indebted to her and the service she gave on that day. After a few minutes, everyone finally decided what they wanted and they sat down to eat. The events that took place at the dinner table, I’ll never be able to fully describe. Let’s just say, that over a simple meal of chicken noodle soup and chipotle chicken salad, four aquaintances because family. Laughter was laughed. Tears were shed. Memories were made. The four of us likely were nothing short of a nuisance to everyone else in that restaurant, but it is an undeniable fact that Zupas is a place where friends become family. I am forever grateful for this restaurant and the workers there who gave it their all....
Read moreI just had some of the worst customer service I've ever had at a restaurant. My three-year-old son has an extensive list of allergies and I wanted to be able to get him a salad he could enjoy. When I engaged the employee taking my order and inquired about ingredients in things like their pork, I was told it came prepackaged. I asked if they could possibly look at the box and I was told the ingredients weren't listed on there. I've run into that before, it's fine. So then I moved onto asking for eggs and some bacon and some vegetables to go on his salad. For dressings, I asked if they had oil and vinegar and they didn't. So I asked what was in the vinaigrette, instead of even answering my question the employee turned their back on me and started helping the next person.
At this point I just gave up and went to sit down after paying. My son ate the eggs, bacon and beans out of his salad but nothing else because there was no dressing. I went back up to the counter and explained that we needed more eggs and bacon for my son's salad because he was only picking at it with no dressing. I was literally given a table spoon of each and charged for 2 proteins ($3.89) for a portion that didn't even fill the plastic ramekin it came in.
For a restaurant whose website boasts fresh ingredients made at each location, I find what I dealt with absolutely offensive. I was ignored and basically shunned whenever I tried to ask a question about what I was trying to put in my son's body. I will not be coming back.
We ended up going to a different restaurant to feed my son afterwards so that he didn't go...
Read moreSecond time in two weeks now and they can't seem to figure out a to go order. I ordered for 6 people before and they screwed it up completely. They messed up the salads, I personally ordered the large Lobster bisque and a completely different soup came with the lobster bisque lid on it. When I sent someone back to get the right food, he was told they were then out of the soup and he would have to wait there for 30 minutes until it was ready. I of course declined and they provided nothing at all in return. No credit for the screw up or any attempt thereof. Today I decided to try it again. Ordered for 9 this time and of course they managed to charge me for everything but AGAIN leave out MY Lobster bisque. I called the store and the young lady who took the order answered the phone and said yes I remember the order and oh yea here it is sitting under the warmer. Would I like to come pick it up? I told her I wasn't interested in picking up soup sitting under a warmer for 45 minutes now and if I sent someone back there I would like fresh soup. I have requested the store manager to call me but to no avail at this time has there been any contact. It's a real shame that the customer service has been so poor there and the really feeble attempts to correct the situation. THEY REALLY DON'T...
