I was there yesterday for the final part of my citizenship, the pledge of allegiance. (August 2024) It was a great experience. The building is easy to find. And has really interesting architecture. Everyone was super happy and friendly. The building is warm in the common spaces. There is no parking on site but there is public parking across the road on 4th Street. The parking is extremely convenient but expensive at $17. There is not an alternative. The process for the pledge of allegiance is fantastic. The team who run it are super and really friendly. Their supervisor who ran it is really professional and has a great sense of humor, which he uses to get serious points over, including health and safety and lawful options of what we need to do to become citizens on that day. The judge is super cool too a very personable man, who really cares about the country the constitution and us as new citizens. I got there early and was there for 3 hrs. The ceremony lasted for just over 2 hrs. There is an opportunity for you to practice your right to make a speech too. (For 3 people.) I was able to to complete the paperwork for voting and hand it in. Plus there was the opportunity to apply for a passport on the day but I just collected the forms to do that on another day as I needed to bring photos and pay for it on that day which should have cost 165.00.
Everyone was super helpful. I made new friends. The whole thing was a great experience, fun and heart warming. I feel really proud that I have achieved my citizenship.
So thank you to all involved.
Oh! There is also a value for money coffee bar in the foyer.
Enjoy and good luck to all future new...
Read moreThis beautiful federal building. I visited this building twice to witness friends and family members' naturalization ceremonies. If you are coming here for the same reason, plan to park in the garage on the southeast corner for 4th Ave and Washington St. Parking costs $10. Plan to be here for at least 2 hours. Be sure all adults entering the building has a photo ID. Once candidates are checked in, then family and friends are invited into the courtroom. The first hour will be instruction and information for candidates about their next steps and how to complete documents. The actual ceremony will begin about 1 hour after your appointment time and will last about an hour. The building is very large, and common areas are not air...
Read moreI was recently there for my wife's citizenship ceremony and during their oath our twins began to get fussy. Like a responsible parent, i took them out of the courtroom. However i could not return and missed out on my wife becoming a USA citizen. It would be nice if they had a room for parents with fussy kids equipped with a TV monitor for video and sound feed to still witness the ceremony. Still it is a nice facility but not equipped with proper stroller or wheelchair parking. For a government facility I just...
