Made an 80+ year old man with a cane and history of falls walk 1000+ feet. All the doors to get back in the cafeteria were locked or required badge entry. No problem right? Just knock politely on the door and someone would let us back in. Nope. Wouldn’t even come near the door. Just pointed despite my persistent knocking. Multiple people inside, including staff. Had to walk 1000+ feet, go up an elevator, walk across the bridge, get searched by security to get back inside. Inexcusable!! Here is what it looked like.

The young lady at the front desk, she wore a pink floral shirt with black overall skirt/ dress with braids. Her attitude was piss poor, as I entered the lady asked if we were here for appointments or other, I asked the women infront of me if they minded whether or not I jumped infront of them because I had an interview. The receptionist waved me off and said verbatim okay cmon and rolled her eyes.

It was my fourth visit in 9 months for out patient procedures and surgery related to kidney stones. My surgeon was great each time, very efficient and thorough. What made him look even better was the kind, proficient staff, RN’s and the anesthesiologist before, during and after my surgery! They were outstanding, though I’d like not to see them for awhile! 😍

My husband entered the ER on 7/25/19 around 6:45pm. The ER was slightly busy, I've seen it much worse. My husband had the classic signs of Meningitis (nausea, sensitivity to light, headaches, fever of 102.9, chills, sweats where he would drench his clothes, pain in back and neck). We were put in triage area with others & waited for 2+ hours, during this time he got vital signs & an IV with fluids right off the bat, this ties us in, if we leave after this it is considered "against medical advice" & we will be charged with the bill. As we sat there I saw an elderly lady, very swollen Left leg in a wheelchair w/her family members. She had been diagnosed w/a blood clot. Obviously had dementia. As we all continued to wait the lady became overly tired & began to slump forward in her wheelchair, I became worried she was going to fall out, I went up to the RN in charge of triage "Becky" & asked her could the family use a recliner from the main waiting area so she didn't risk falling out & she could be more comfortable,? Becky responded "the chairs can't be moved, they can move her over there if they wish." She didn't seem concerned at all. This is a liability to the hospital if this patient falls! I am a RN too! The recliners have wheels, there was no reason she could not have rolled that chair over to help. As we continued to wait, the X-Ray tech came out 3 times, requesting my husband get a chest x-ray, which he told her he had the previous day at Tryon Medical. Get the report from them,It was negative. We continued to sit in the waiting room until I asked to see a charge RN at 12:30. During this time we witnessed 2 different patients remove their own IV's, 2 patients leave "AMA", & listen to many others complaining about wait times. The polite young man at front desk proceeded to get the charge RN. Pretty soon another man, whom I assume was a RN, asked me if he could help me, I explained I was waiting to see the charge RN, he told me she was busy, I stated if she could not come out then I would like the house supervisor. He responded, " there is a chain of command here, the charge RN will decide if you get to see a house supervisor, I could go have a seat & wait. " He was not friendly & I was not being rude nor disrupting, so his demeanor was uncalled for. They immediately called my husband back, drew more labs, sent him back out from to wait again. Meredith, the charge RN came out later, asked me to come to the back. She was very polite & explained there were no rooms in the hospital nor ER. As I said, I am a RN, I understand but as I told her NO ONE is coming out to explain ANYTHING to the patients. It could have deescalated a lot of issues if someone would have just come out, explained things, offered blankets, showed a little understanding & compassion. At 1:26 am we were finally taken back. The RN and MD both came in immediately. MD ordered blood cultures & labs, understand, we still do not know what my husband has & he has exposed a lot of others to whatever, was never asked to wear a mask. No one got the cultures until 3:35 am. He had laid there 2 more hours waiting! He finally was moved to a surgery holding area at 4:45, where he would stay for the next 3 days! A bay area w/curtain.Restroom down the hall & NO shower. The floors had not been cleaned, his trash can overflowing, I have pictures. By Sunday, late, he finally got a room. This where we meet "Dr. G." Multiple tests were ordered, more labs, CT's, antibiotics, etc.Still no answers, my husband still having all the symptoms he came in with. Still waiting on results. Tuesday, I had left briefly, Dr G comes in & tells my husband he has LYMPHOMA! Consulting Oncologist & getting biopsy. Oncologist came in,says he DOES NOT have lymphoma! Consulting Infectious disease, Dr Lang. We wait all night. Wednesday, Dr G comes back in, we tell him what Oncologist says, he leaves, comes back &says he spoke w/Dr Lang & agrees he has Lymphoma. We got second opinion next day from an Oncologist.. he does NOT...

I gave birth to my daughter back in June 2019. Upon arrival they got me to a room quickly, checked my cervix and once they realized I was 4cm dilated they admitted me into a maternity room. My first nurse, Jennifer was amazing. She was so helpful, informative, and took great care of us. I originally did not want an epidural but I never refuted one outright and once I decided I could not bear my contractions I asked for one and it didn’t take long to get one because nurse Jennifer kept the anaesthesiologist on standby for me. This was where my issues lied. The anaesthesiologist first commented that my back was strange and that I had a weird back. Um... ok. Due to this I guess he wasn’t aware of the strength of epidural to give me. The epidural did the trick at first but then started to wear off and the other nurses were looking at my chart and asking out loud while I was in the room why I was administered such a weak dose. Once it was time for me to push the doctor was nowhere to be found and the nurses kept telling me not to push and to wait until the dr got there even though I had the urge and could no longer hold my child in. Once the doctor arrived I was able to push and I’m pretty sure I felt about 70%-80% of the birth because my epidural was weak and wearing off. Once I pushed her out I tore and the doctor went to sew me up. By now all of my epidural had wore off and I could feel being sewed up (like literally felt the needle going in and out). I kept complaining how much it hurt but did not get any lidocaine admitted to the area until the nurse brought my baby to me and I told her I was in so much pain that I could not take her. Later on the anaesthesiologist came in to check on me and asked me about my epidural which I am not sure is standard procedure or not. When I explained to him that I felt most of my birth he proceeded to tell me that’s how it’s supposed to feel which makes no sense because every woman I have spoken with that has received an epidural told me she felt nothing but a little pressure when pushing. I’m quite sure he did that to cover his tracks because the nurses informed him that he administered a weak dose and they spoke about it around me. The next day the paperwork that I signed had my daughter’s birth date written once in tiny print at the top and I guess after giving birth and taking care of a newborn I missed it because my daughter was born on the 1st of June and the date they had was for the 2nd which is the same day I left the hospital. Due to my signing that and the date being incorrect I had to to go to vital records and get that amended and had to jump through all types of hoops to get my child’s social security number. Now that I’m pregnant with my second child I’m going to Novant and hoping to have a much better experience...

Has to be the worse hospital in NC. Have never had a good experience there. They have a sales structure and are not concerned about your well being at all. Went in with a ruptured appendix and they told me they were keeping overnight because I had taken a blood thinner that morning, which I was fine with that. Said they had to monitor just in case I bled out. I am still curious how they monitor that because from the time I left recovery not one doctor or nurse checked my incisions the whole time I was there. I spoke with a doctor the next morning who said if I ate, passed gas, walked I would be able to go home that day. He actually asked if I wanted to go home, which was a weird question. I have AFIB and they connected me to a heart monitor. My afib is under control and monitored by a awesome doctor at Tryon Medical who use to be with Atrium but left because of how they treated patients. They seemed to be more concerned with that then the actual reason I came in. I was told by a nurse if I did those things I could be released after lunch, which I did. So around 11 a nurse came in wanting to shave my chest because they were having issues with the heart monitor, at that time I realized they were trying to keep me there all day. I asked why that mattered I was not in there for my heart I unhooked the monitor myself, she left and they never mentioned the heart monitor again, guess it wasn't that necessary. I went out and ask the nurse when I was leaving and she said that she never told me I could leave around noon. When I asked why I was still here she had no answer. I said my wife is coming up here I was leaving at 2 because there was no reason for me to stay. She then told me if I left my insurance would not pay for my visit. So I call Blue Cross and they said that was incorrect that I would be charged for the time I was there. When I asked another nurse about it, she said that's what they were told to say when someone wanted to leave. It was also funny that they had already told my insurance that I would be there for 2 days for an out patient surgery. So I was discharged about 30 minutes after I confronted them. Was given no discharge instructions on the care of my wounds or when I could go back to work. I had to ask the nurse who verbally gave instructions to someone on narcotics. When we called back to ask about these things they lied and said I refused my instructions. I am scared to get my bill because they are still trying to charge me 3200 for knee surgery I had in October. Big problem there is I had shoulder surgery and my insurance has already covered it. I was just in so much pain I went to close ER which next time I will hurt and go somewhere else. I'm sure I will add to this review once I...
