If I could leave 0 stars I would. Where do I start with this place? To start with Pokémon cards, Graded cards are only graded through ISA but sold at 2-3x PSA rates. For example the 2016 evolutions mega pidgeot #105 was graded at an ISA 6. The PSA 7 of this card goes for $13 - they were selling it for $60!!!! Secondly their sealed pokemon product is 3x the price.
Moving onto the foreign language cards, they are selling Chinese and Korean loose packs for Japanese prices, and loose Japanese packs for English prices. Some of the items are a 3000% MARKUP!!!
I purchased 2 funko pops $35 each but got one half off so only paid like $50ish, feeling like there was something up I looked at the price of the funko pops being sold on eBay, I could get both for $25… There are multiple action figures that are in the $8-15 range on eBay being sold for $50+. Some funko pops you could find at target or Walmart CURRENTLY are being sold for 2-3x the price.
The rewards system is a complete joke, spend $50 get a stamp, get 6 stamps you get $50 free - sounds good right, WRONG! Apparently no matter how much money you spend you can only get one stamp, when I asked if that was per transaction, and if I could make multiple $50 transactions (I had about $250 worth of product.) all I got was an “uh uhh” and head shake. How will they gauge this, could I not just spend $50 walk out the door and spend another $50? What if I gave the card to a friend and he purchased $50 worth of items, this doesn’t make sense.
The store is a disaster, it’s messy disgusting and stale smelling. The tables in the back are a mess with random items scattered about. It’s almost uncomfortable being in there and my girlfriend has expressed that multiple times to me.
Lastly their staff, they’re unresponsive most the time. They’re very uncomfortable, almost seems like they don’t want to socialize, there’s never a hello when you enter or even a glance at you. They just keep their head down and either eat or are on their phones.
This place needs to get its act together starting with...
Read moreHusband and I l(we are two men, which is relevant to the story) were attending an event in Perry Crossing together. At this event, which happened to be the Hello Kitty Cafe, a nice woman was handing out 5 dollar vouchers for this shop to all the men. She’d mentioned that they were doing that because a lot of guys would be being dragged to it by their girlfriends, which is true enough, but yeah, free five bucks. She clearly didn’t realize we were together. Lol.
Immediately upon entering the shop, we noticed that it was a bit crowded with items all around the shop, which we weren’t expecting at ALL. My local shop is so organized that this gave me whiplash. Bit cramped and there doesn’t APPEAR to be any rhyme or reason to it initially, but not hard to figure out. It’s very crowded and cluttered, though. That cannot be overstated. It’s claustrophobic, even. Fire hazard.
I had given my voucher to my husband to purchase Pokemon cards. A pack was 10 dollars( slight demand inflation, we guessed.) There was no mention of them being one per customer on the vouchers themselves, but they had told us it was one per customer. No big deal, I suppose, but they should probably list that on the voucher themselves. Boss sounded irritated that a staff member asked about the vouchers, however. Not awesome.
Staff themselves were friendly enough, though! We just gave the vouchers back as we do not live on the area. Oh, it’s also not air conditioned, which isn’t ideal, but they had several fans going, which is certainly better than nothing- just thought I should note it.
It’s also worth noting that while there are plenty of cheap items that were available, this shop appears to be more for collectors who have money to burn. 50+ for most of the offerings there, but also lots of cheap comics and toys for kids. Funkos were outrageous, though. Not everything is priced which is...
Read moreReasons why you should skip D’s and a few reasons why you might give it a shot: Pricing: Enough items do not have a price on them where it’s a crapshoot as to whether it does or not. Having to ask the presumed owner becomes annoying quickly and he will make up a number off the top in that case. For the items that are priced…dear god help them. The card sections are insanely out of wack compared to market. Most card stores markup from MSRP but it was alarmingly high enough to make me upset about it. I’ve been to dozens of card stores around the Midwest and the pricing looks like again..he’s making it up by pulling something out of a hat. This is not just with Pokemon or sports cards.
Organization: The store is organized relatively by brand (I.e. funko, Pokemon, Star Wars, etc). That being said, the store is extremely messy with it not being clear what’s for sale and not for sale. It’s closer to an organized hoarder’s storage unit than a store.
Competition: there are card stores with better pricing, selection, and less frustration within a drive on the west side. It’s not worth it for most folks.
Positives: Comics: there seemed to be a reasonable selection of comics that a collector would enjoy. Don’t know enough to know if he’s taxing on prices.
Collectibles: I have to say the types of things you would want from a collection stand point are pretty cool here. From Barbie to power rangers and funk pop. There’s a lot of variety. Some unique stuff is for sale. I just can’t attest to the pricing side.
I’d pass for most buyers, but if you enjoy a window shopping museum tour I guess...
