Price to high for amenities. Swimming pool hours have been cut back. The water features never work and the slide is never turned on. Kids get bored and complain about the pool because water features are non existent. We canceled our membership because of this. Not sure why the Y is so expensive when other community centers are better and less expensive. For example, this center is St. George, Utah a family gets a better workout area /machines, gym, indoor/outdoor swimming plus outdoor splash pad, regular water slide for big kids and small kid slides. We have paid over 1K a year for a poor non-functioning tax payer funded facility in Platte City before canceling our membership.
Why is the YMCA so expensive?
Compare to this facility which we have used before moving here.

Read moreGreat gym. Best pool in the metro and not crowded. Their Olympic size lap pool has several lanes (eight I think). They have a wonderful indoor walking track, great weight machines, lots of cardio equipment plus the trainers are always willing to answer any questions. I've never encountered an unfriendly person at the front desk and there are tons of group exercises available. I've been a loyal member for ten years. I've never felt judged even though I'm a plus size. They help you meet your fitness needs no matter what level you're starting from. They also have a great basketball court and child care is offered. Membership is a little pricey but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend...
Read moreInteresting YMCA to visit. I paid for a day pass, used the water area for 1 hour before being told they close for 2 hours and to leave promptly. I asked customer service if my day pass was 24 pass like their neighboring YMCA in Parkville. She replied rudely no it only 12 hours. So I paid 15 bucks to use a gym for a hour? At that rate the YMCA should have better customer service and more services to offer. Also, don't bother emailing them any questions. I've never gotten responses from from...
