I stopped into this location about 30 minutes before closing tonight. In my experience in other Home Goods stores throughout the East Coast and Midwest, the staff is friendly and helpful. That was definitely not my experience here. I went to the store with my husband and three young children. No one greeted us, and when we got to the counter to check out, the customer service representative barely acknowledged our existence. We were checking out about 10-15 minutes before closing, so while I imagine that she was looking forward to finishing up for the evening, it was not like we were keeping her from getting off of her shift. My children were getting antsy, and the lack of any sort of greeting or the simplest kindness left me feeling self-conscious about their presence. I bought some towels, a shopping bag, and a decorative candle holder with five glass inserts. After I paid, the employee did not start packaging my items, so I asked if she would please bag them. She asked if I wanted her to put the items in the shopping bag I purchased. I told her to put the towels in it but not the large candle holder and the glass inserts that came with it. She asked if I wanted a regular bag for them, and I replied that I did. I then asked her if she would please wrap the glass inserts for the candle holder separately. I thought that was a standard thing, considering there was a stack of packing paper at the register. She “wrapped” them but not thoroughly. When I got home, four out of the five glass inserts were shattered. The employee never handed me a receipt, nor did she place it in any of the three bags with my purchases. Now I have to return it, which I’m guessing will be a hassle. All in all, it was a very...
Read moreI came with intentions of buying the basic staples of household items for an empty apartment. Found a few good deals, but overall was pretty disappointed at the plethora of overpriced junk. I couldn’t believe the only silverware currently carried was shoved on an end cap and only consisted of about 10 different sets. More overpriced throw pillows than kitchenware. Furniture selection was varied but high. For example, padded storage benches were averaging $100 more than their sisters TJ + Marshall’s carry, and with poorer quality, in my opinion. Fair amount of rugs I observed, but didn’t even want to check the price as everything else furniture wise was closer to mid to upscale department store prices. Clearance sections were small, but that’s typical of these stores so I wasn’t surprised to end up disappointed with the selection.
BUT you want 146 different placemats to choose from it’s your place this spring season!
FOUR STARS because of the few DEALS that I did find, the QUALITY of those products, the FRIENDLINESS of employees, and that there was enough nonsense junk to keep my boyfriend entertained while I actually shopped! ANOTHER PLUS was their decent selection of EARTH FRIENDLY product alternatives in each given area of the store! Nice to see a choice between plastics and sustainably sourced and environmentally friendly materials.
I won’t be writing it off, just trying again in a few months when they’ve got...
Read moreGoodness gracious.... As a previous ASM of this particular location 2 years ago- I am disbelief of what I walked up to today. Clearance 'staged' as you walk up to the store front paints the perfect picture of what you are getting ready to walk into. Merchandise is everywhere, zero recovery, NOT ada compliant, not shopable .... I was completely flabbergasted! Its clear they are struggling for help but this was a total shock to walk into. It made me want to throw my merchandising hat back on and get in there with a few...
