Port Lavaca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center — Local services in Port Lavaca

I wish I could give this place a big fat ZERO. They don't even deserve 1 star. Everyone looks so depressed in this facility! They are definitely not complying with what their Mission Statement states "Our Mission Statement It is each facilities mission to enhance the quality of life for their residents and employees by committing to the company’s core values of communicating expectations, delivering high-quality nursing and rehabilitation services, setting higher standards in resident care, encouraging growth through education and community awareness and implementing fiscal responsibility through employee training and personal commitment." I live about 4 hours away so the only way I can communicate with my Grandma that's stuck staying there is by phone. But can I get someone to answer the phone? Of course not. I've called multiple times at various hours thinking if I change the time I call, maybe someone will answer but no. And that's both the front desk and the resident line. I know lots of family members just dump their parents there and not look back but there are a few of us who actually care about the family we have...

The facility is filthy, the cleaning people do a very poor job of cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms and bath rooms, Not to mention the over flowing of trash cans and trash on the floors for days at a time. While I was there my bed pan was cleaned out in the bathroom lavatory. Dirty linens were left piled on chairs in your room for days at a time. The facility shower area had feces on the walls and floors. There again the facility staff did not practice cleanliness and disinfecting procedures. Hygiene for the patients was poorly done, My last week in the facility I came down with C-Diff the staff did not seem to worry my last day there one of the nurses family sent a specimen to the hospital lab, the results were told to me a week later by the doctor. I wonder how many cases they get at that facility due to poor care. The food was awful I would not feed to my dogs. I would not recommend this center to anyone that has family needing nursing care. I'm still iffy with this.. they were horrible in beginning.. not sure if they know she only has 3 months or my tantrums..lol.. they're nice to her now.. even she says they are all nice now.... she even says the one lady that would roll her eyes everytime she needed diaper change was nice now.. so im glad..heads up to a cna named jarah.. my mom said she so goid to her.. always makes sure from the beginning before she left if she needed diaper change.. always..she did go to a hospital for a week..now her neck pillow the wheelchair we got just a day before she went to hospital is missing.. over a week.. they are still trying to find it.. my mom says it's ok.. we can buy a new one.. but I'm like.. we just bought that.. I won't buy another one cuz I'm scared it'll be m.i.a. too.. I want my mom to have it.. but.. it was taken...
