My husband and I were looking for a nice restaurant in town, and this was the BEST place we could’ve gone to! It has a beautiful atmosphere! Very much a hidden gem! It wasn’t very busy when we went- which is disappointing because it was such an amazing restaurant! Deserves more business!! Everything we got was incredibly delicious!! And great value!! The beef fried rice was so scrumptious! The sushi rolls were fantastic! In particular, they had a fried sushi roll that was the best we’ve ever had! I can’t remember what it was called, but it had spicy mayo as well, and it was the perfect balance of flavor and not too much spice. We got dessert as well and I thought I was too full from the meal to finish it- but it was sooo good, we sure did eat every bit of it! I started eating before I got a pic- so it looked much nicer when we first got it! It was a huge portion and slice of a chocolate cake/mousse/pie of sorts. It was like a chocolate overload but somehow wasn’t too cloying! (I do love sweets though, so it was still significantly on the sweet side) I split some of the rice with my husband, and we got 2 different sushi rolls, and the dessert, and the total came out to $40 before tip. Best value for the best meal we’ve had at a restaurant in a long time! Overall, if you’re looking where to go for your next meal- don’t hesitate to just go!! You won’t regret it!

Well I hadn’t been able to go to Port Lavaca in a while, but it was my day off and I went fishing. It’s located on the highway across from the Walmart (35 N? S? Anyway it’s not on the side that Walmart is on. The outside of the restaurant looks kinda bleh but the inside looks great! Very spacious and they have a sushi bar. I didn’t sit at the sushi bar this time. I ordered the chicken hibachi. It was very delicious I ate all of it. The service is very good my server was very polite and had a nice conversation with me. Very good with refills too! Id recommend it if you’re in the area and enjoy Japanese food! :)

Definitely the best overall food experience I had while in Port Lavaca. Every dish came out quick and looking picture-worthy. The spicy tuna crispy rice appetizer was the highlight, but then again everything I ate was a highlight. Edit: About two months after I first dined here, I came back on another work trip and just had to eat here again. My experience was equally fantastic. The Hokkaido scallop sushi was amazing, and I had the crispy rice appetizer again as I think that’s the best bang for your buck. I’m honestly considering coming here again tomorrow.

As a Port Lavaca local with a serious sushi habit, I can confidently say Taiyo Sushi Fusion is a true gem! My friends and I practically live there – and with good reason. Every visit is a flavor fiesta, bursting with fresh, creative dishes that go beyond the ordinary.

Forget your basic California rolls here. Taiyo Sushi Fusion elevates the game with innovative fusion fare that tantalizes your taste buds. The menu is a delicious adventure, from melt-in-your-mouth sashimi to playful specialty rolls like the Shrimp Tempura Roll (a crunchy, creamy explosion of flavor) and the Taiyo Welldone Special (a spicy-sweet masterpiece that keeps me coming back for more).

But it's not just about the sushi, though that's definitely the star of the show. Their soups are equally enticing – the Miso is a warm, comforting hug in a bowl, while the Onion Soup is a savory masterpiece that rivals the best French bistros. And let's not forget the fried rice – light, fluffy, and packed with umami goodness, it's the perfect side dish (or, let's be honest, sometimes I can't resist stealing bites as my main course arrives).

Speaking of main courses, their habachi offerings are another level. The scallops are simply divine – plump, perfectly seared, and bursting with ocean-fresh flavor. And the fried rice (yes, I mentioned it again, it's THAT good) is a perfect accompaniment to soak up all the deliciousness.

But what truly sets Taiyo Sushi Fusion apart is the atmosphere and service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food. They take the time to explain the menu, answer questions, and make recommendations – always with a smile. The vibe is warm, inviting, and perfect for a casual lunch with friends or a romantic dinner date.

So, if you're looking for a sushi experience that's anything but ordinary, look no further than Taiyo Sushi Fusion. It's more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary adventure that will leave you wanting more (and making plans for your next visit). Trust me, your taste buds (and your happiness) will thank you!

P.S. I also took a peek at other Google Maps reviews, and I couldn't agree more with the praises for Taiyo's friendly service, fresh ingredients, and creative dishes. This place is truly a Port...

This was the first time eating here. I looked up their menu and decided on what I wanted before I went because I do not eat Sushi but love the noodles and other items on the menu. There were 4 of us and we were the first in the establishment when they opened. Long story short they were out of no exaggeration at least half of the items on their menu. I had to go with the Chicken, they were out of updon noodles, and the only other noodles were not at all appealing to me. (They were out of all the other choices. The chicken was very dry. The salad was a half of a grape tomato and then just greens. The server told us they had all the sushi. One of us ordered seabass but they were out of it. The couple we were with saw the Wagu Steak on the special board and ordered that. Oops sorry we are all out of that. At this point it was getting comical. We were celebrating my Anniversary and I was looking forward to a cocktail. They were out of over 1/2 of the drink items on the menu. They had no wine and no martinis. They did have Saki, but that is not my drink of choice. We then decided on the Creme Brulee for dessert. We were told that the chef makes it but they did not have any. The server said that the only desert they had was Japanese IceCream. We passed. The server was very nice but also very embarrassed. We told her if we decide to come again we will call ahead and see what they do have that is on the menu. We wanted to warn the other patrons as they entered, but they would soon also find out what they...
