Kalma's mission to bring the conversations about grief and death out of the shadows is such a good thing. At the entrance is a stand with complimentary masks for you to wear inside the store, and you are encouraged to wear one for the health and safety of everyone. People walked in, saw everyone else wearing a mask, and did the same. No pressure, no shaming, just people being kind to one another. For a store that also focuses on death in a positive light, it is refreshing not to see dreamcatchers and crystals strewn about the interior. Even my husband was impressed by the curation of clothing and items in the store, and he is the farthest person from embracing this culture...
