I needed a haircut badly, tried another shop who had a sign stating "call for an appointment" in the window, then gave the Crow's Nest a try. I was lucky. They were open and not busy so I got right in. It's a clean shop on the second floor. The sign is fairly high up the side of the building and the text on the door is dark so it's easy to walk by. They run it like a traditional barber shop without a lot of gimmicks. The barber who cut my hair, Kettric, was pleasant, asked questions about how he should cut the hair, and most importantly listened to the answers. He didn't rush and I was happy with the cut when I headed out. I'll be going back the next time I need a cut but with the holidays coming up I won't count on walking in. They have an online reservation system and I would recommend using it to avoid the frustration of not being lucky enough to work into the queue.

We were visiting Portland for the day and decided on a whim to try to get our one year old son his first haircut. We walked into the Crow’s Nest, saw how busy it was and realized it probably wasn’t going to happen. But the owner, Frank, took us right away and within 8 minutes gave our boy (who refused to cooperate and cried the whole time) the freshest ‘do. I wish we lived here so I could bring him regularly. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

Amazing haircuts for my kids ages 10 and 11 who loved being listened to like adults and getting haircuts that are just what they wanted. I thoroughly appreciated the attention to detail and communication because the cuts both look great and are exactly what the kids hoped for, plus they both had great conversations and enjoyed the experience. We will definitely be back. Interior is really cool too - love the crow lore and purple couch!

I had scheduled my first appointment with the crows nest last week, and they called me 10 minutes before my appointment to cancel it for personal reasons. They asked if later on that day would work, and I said I would try my best to make that happen. Unfortunately, I was caught up at work and wasn’t able to come back in later that day.

When I showed up today for my appointment, I was told that I owed $20 for my “missed appointment” last week, even though it was them that canceled on me. I explained what happened, and was told by Wiechman that he wasn’t willing to do anything about it.

I thought maybe there was some miscommunication going on, so I tried to explain my perspective better. I explained how I thought it wasn’t fair to be charged $20 for an appointment that was cancelled on me, when I said I would try to make a later time that day. I didn’t want them to miss out on a client because of scheduling.

I didn’t even get to the haircut since I wasn’t willing to...

Kettric is hands down the best barber I’ve ever been to. I’ve been a loyal client since he started as an apprentice during COVID, and his attention to detail has kept me coming back ever since. He doesn’t just give a haircut—he tailors it exactly to what works for me and even helped me grow out my beard the right way.

What really sets Kettric apart is the experience. Now that we’re both dads, sitting in his chair feels less like an appointment and more like catching up with a buddy. I’ve even started bringing my 2-year-old son, Van, and it’s been awesome watching him interact with Kettric and get that real barber shop experience. He makes kids feel comfortable, and it’s something I know Van will remember as he grows up.

If you’re looking for a barber who’s skilled, easy to talk to, and great with both adults and kids, Kettric is your guy. Don’t wait to book—you...
