When I first met Yume Takeuchi, she was working with a wellness center and I am so glad that she now has her own practice because she is an all out superstar with a focus on making her services accessible on a sliding scale fee basis. She is genuinely focused on making the best possible positive difference for people's wellbeing.
Yume is deeply intuitive, cultured, educated, intelligent, and compassionate. She can notice issues that will take you by surprise to have articulated to you, but the symptoms that they are correlated with will not be so much of a surprise. This is the amazing skill that she has — you can come to her with a multitude of beguiling symptoms and she can pinpoint (acupuncture pun intended!) a direct target source. For me, it was the liver. I later found out I was having major issues with inflammation that were exacerbating neurological symptoms from a traumatic brain injury and cervical dystonia, a movement disorder that less than 1% of the population has.
TBI can trigger liver inflammation, and new evidence suggests that the liver plays a role in the body's acute inflammatory response to TBI. TBI can also cause disruptions in lipid homeostasis in the liver, which can affect inflammatory events in the brain and body. A study found that hypertension drugs can block the production of proteins related to inflammation triggered by TBI.
She figured this out in just one acupuncture session in her own way. It was surprising to me at first because I don't drink alcohol, eat pretty clean, and am on a bunch of supplements. At the time, it was just beginning to dawn on me how complex and interconnected brain damage, axonal tears, deterioration of brain tissue, malformation of blood vessels in the brain, seizures, spasms, and muscle tightening issues really were — including the impact that all this had on my hormones, metabolism, and immune system. After working with my primary care doctor nearly a year later and really considering everything carefully over twenty plus weeks, the liver and inflammation issues were like blue sky jigsaw puzzle pieces that we had been trying to look for, for quite a while. When inflammatory cytokines and neuroinflammation came up, the liver then came into question and et voilà , Yume was indeed onto something.
There was one session in particular when I was feeling extremely deep exhaustion and lethargy, though I was no stranger to chronic neurofatigue. Yume noticed my heart rate was very low and got to work. After this session, I perked right up for a few days. She is an excellent wellbeing strategist who truly listens and treats people with compassion. I am very, very grateful for all the marvelous ways the Universe conspired for her to become the practitioner and human being that she is today because she is an exceptionally...

Read moreI came across Yume by chance when I moved back to LA a few years ago—and I’m so glad that I did! Western medicine has created a system that doesn’t always put women’s health first. Yume’s approach is radically different.
She practices with the utmost integrity and listens to her patients to thoughtfully assess what’s happening in your body. She never pushes herbs, but welcomes the opportunity to have a conversation with her patients if they’re open to trying different healing modalities.
During my three years working with Yume, she not only helped me get my period symptoms and cramps under control, but also helped me manage debilitating chronic pain. I’m forever grateful to her, and anyone would be lucky to have an advocate like Yume as their...
