Oko — Local services in Portland

Oko is the most lovely place.

I have bought two rings from them—who doesn’t need a gift… or 2… for themselves!?—and they are so utterly beautiful. I never take them off and never plan to.

Those working in the store (including the owner) clearly care so deeply about what they do. They understand jewelry and listen to what you have to say. They make you feel like a friend immediately.

The first ring I bought I came in to try on two times before deciding to splurge and each time they were so sweet and patient and not sales-y at all. Their ring sizer (which I needed for both rings) did an amazing job as well for such a reasonable price.

At some point I told them I wanted a ring with a snake one day, not thinking anything of it. A few weeks later they texted me with a picture of a new snake ring they’d gotten in, which took me by such sweet surprise.

They’re truly the best people with the most unique and special collection of beautiful and stunning jewelry. And I should have written this...

Thank you to Lisa for creating a relaxed atmosphere and a laid-back sales approach! As totally clueless jewelry shoppers, my fiancé and I were pleased (and so relived) when Lisa patiently answered our questions, educated us a bit on the wonders of old jewelry making techniques, and had a nice sense of humor. Rather than making endless uneducated suggestions, she let us browse on our own.... she stopped us only once to show us a piece she'd just gotten in... which turned out to be exactly what we didn't know we were looking for! We're now the happy owners of a stellar vintage ring from this little local shop.

i do not recommend taking any jewelry repairs to this store. i described in detail what i wanted with a necklace (which they repeated back to me and confirmed that this would be fine, not a problem). they then chose to do it a different way from what i had described to them. this changed the entire look of the piece such that i knew i would never wear the necklace.

they never checked in with me before these new and unapproved changes were made. not only that, they refused to admit their mistake, blamed me for my request not “making sense” and tried to charge me additional money to fix it. i had to argue quite a bit for them to finally waive the additional fee that they were charging me due to their mistake.

yikes! definitely not a customer...
