Been great for 10 years, but there's a manager there who is just angry about helping you.
I asked for a length of hose and Hyrum, who is a manager, walked off in the middle of me asking which options they had, came back with vacuum hose. I asked "is this the oil resistant kind?" because he didn't actually verify with me what I wanted.
He threw a fit. "It's vacuum hose." "Yeah. But is it oil resistant?" "It's vacuum hose." "I know, that's not what I asked." "It's good enough for what you asked" something or other. "I'm not going to argue with you man..." His hostility made me uncomfortable enough that I paid, left, checked myself on O'Reilly's website and came in to exchange it hoping for another employee. It was still just him, and he made sure he was rude, hostile, outright insulting, and unwilling to look it up because of some perceived insult to his ego that he was asked a question.
That was how the conversation went. I didn't insult him, I didn't raise my voice or tell him to do anything. I was shocked by his behavior and asked another employee if this was normal or if there was a manager present.
For reference, the 27231 EPDM brake hose he brought me isn't oil resistant. It'll become brittle exposed to the oil vapor of crankcase ventilation.
Another employee, after I cut that off, did the right thing and just looked up description of the other hosing, which was explicitly rated as oil resistant.
Hyrum's response made no sense, was unprompted, and is in line with hostile behavior to other customers that I know. Treating them like ignorant jerks who are an inconvenience.
Again, his hostility started from the moment I asked what type of hose he brought and he just outright refused to answer. That isn't normal. I asked a relevant question about the part he brought me.
This is not the first time he's acted like it's an inconvenience to either me or other customers when they wanted to make sure they got what they came for rather than what Hyrum decided was "good enough." Poor professionalism.
Everyone else is great. Keagan did a good job in that visit despite his...
Read moreWent to get my battery tested, when I walked in I had asked one of the employees to test it. It was a tall dude with a big beard and long hair. He didn’t say anything to me or really make eye contact. He just walked to the end of the desk and grabbed the battery tester and walked out of the building. The reason for getting my battery tested was to make sure it was healthy for the upcoming cold season. I followed him out of the building and he said the reason I am having battery issues is cause my negative cable was loose. (I wasn’t having starting issues, this was just precautionary maintenance). He never asked if I had symptoms or what problems I had. I would like to point out the terminal was also not that loose, he really had to put a bit of pressure on it to be able to get it to wiggle a little. He just loosened my negative and took off the patted negative terminal ring and threw it away and retighten it (those rings cost money btw). The battery tested good. My main point for the partial review was the fact that he just walked out of the building to my car with pretty much no contact between both of us, and never actually asked me symptoms to diagnosis. Other than my main complaints it was just a regular...
Read moreI went in Saturday April 12th at around 4:30 I walked to the counter and the guys who helped me was extremely rude I asked him about power steering fluid and he said “it’s down that isle” and said okay no worries but I just need to know if it matters which one I get for my car he just repeated the same thing and I asked again and he rolled his eyes and sighed and said no it doesn’t. I was also getting my battery checked he sighed once again and in an annoyed voice he dragged his feet to do it. When we were done I asked about batteries and I asked what the difference was between the two batteries and he said “I don’t know the description is right there” and pointed to a very long description he rolled his eyes at me at everything and sighed and treated me like I was stupid. He was a shorter Hispanic guy with a Byui lanyard. I have never had an issue with them until that day I will not be going back ive never been treated so badly at a parts...
