Final review- Well I'm down to one star for what was one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond since they opened their doors. Today was the last straw as I purchased a hot Italian hero, only to get home to discover the prosciutto they had placed on this sub was so spoiled and putrid it could have crawled out of the roll. Just look at its brown color and putrid fat line in the picture I posted. It smelled worse, believe me and I can't quite describe the taste that still lingers in my mouth.

I called and spoke with Jasper who told me he'd give me a refund at which time I told him I'd be back for that refund although it was more than 30 minute drive. I returned and got my $10 but what I did not get was anything that would compensate me for my time or disgust I had to endure after consuming part of this rotted sub. At the minimum I should have been offered my complete ticket refunded which included the cost of two red pizzas; pizzas I have been eating from here, again, since they opened their doors.

There will be no need for me to travel back across the river when my favorite has gone foul and I have zero confidence in the quality or quality control in or exiting the kitchen.

2nd review - Had to knock them back a couple of stars for piss poor customer service and management.

Here's a suggestion so you don't have people walking away after ordering and not receiving their food:

Since you're only allowing one person in your restaurant at a time, relegating everyone else outside waiting to wonder if their order is ready and how long it's going to take, or if the order was even received, or if the person inside is ordering and going to take 20 minutes to complete, why not close the door permanently and build a take out window so that everyone coming up can be greeted and let be known if their order is ready or if there's still a wait. Otherwise if you're rude and give no information and just bark at people to wait outside, you'll have people walk away.

Original review: If you crave something for over a decade and it's still as good as it was the day you first sampled that particular item, it becomes something that is a staple in your life, as the simple Red Pizza has become for me at 81\2.

This is a unique little pizza that's just right for one person, if you want to avoid battles over who's going to get the last piece.

If you've not tried anything here try that first as a foot in the door to everything they create that's always on point.

The little sfogliatelle are something I grab at least 2 of to satiate me on my drive home, where this little pizza will be hidden...

When we decided to come here for dinner, we did not realize that there is no option to eat in. It's mostly our fault since we didn't research it much before going, but it's the kind of thing that's helpful to know in advance. We planned on eating there and didn't have anywhere nearby to take the pizza to eat it, so we ate in the car. We had fun, but it would have been good to know.

The menu is on the wall on chalkboards on the left when you enter. The staff person at the register was friendly. She took our order quickly and gave us an estimate for pickup, which turned out to be perfectly accurate. We had a cheese and double pepperoni pizza. It was good when we first tried it fresh out of the oven and got better as it rested. I suggest you let it rest for a couple of minutes. The flavors really mellowed and married. There is a strong garlic note, so if you don't like that, you may want to mention it when you are ordering. The sauce has a little kick every now and then, which we both really liked. The crust is crisp and thin but not hard. It still is floppy even with the crispy thinness.

They also have a good variety of canned and bottled soft drinks and other beverages in a cooler to the right of the register, and they sell chilled wines by the bottle. I bought a package of filled hard lemon candy from Italy, which was delicious. I highly recommend it. It was by the register.

I look forward to going back. I'd really like to try their...

Order from the Church Hill location all the time. Best pizza in Richmond in my opinion. Unfortunately, had a very bad service experience recently. We ordered two pies for pick-up from the Church Hill location. When I showed up, they said they had no record of our call. A mistake, it's fine, it happens. However, the employee I dealt with acted incredulous that I'd ever made a call and treated me like I was lying about having placed an order. First, he insisted I must have called their other location; I told him I had not, as we order from the Church Hill location all the time. He called over to the other location regardless, and they confirmed we had not placed an order. Then, he insisted that we'd never called as he was the only one answering the phone. I waited approximately 30 mins (on top of the hour wait we were quoted when we ordered), they made me two pizzas, made no apology for the mistake, seemingly accused me of having never made the call, and charged us full price. Unfortunate, as I love the food here, but that experience was enough for me to write a review, something I'm not sure I've...

Service is good and the food is definitely unique. The meat lasagna had to be the best and most unique tasting lasagna I ever had. Glad I ordered that. Pizza was unique too but not the best pizza we ever had. We did not like the salad at all, it came with some type of balsamic house dressing, ranch was not available. We attempted to order roasted chicken but they were out. We ordered by phone and they told us that it would take 30 to 40 minutes, and they told us that they don't have a parking lot, just need to find a place to park in the side of the street, not in the middle of the street because the street is narrow and this seems to be college town VCU Virginia Commonwealth University. When we arrived, we found a parking spot on the side of the street, called and they brought our food out immediately, no wait time. Curbside pickup, thank you!

Tasty thin pizza! We bought the pepperoni and a calzone. Our pizza was QUITE greasy, it was dripping. After dabbing it off the pizza was very good! Our calzone was cooked to perfection and came with a generous portion of homemade (?) dipping sauce, we had plenty left over to dip our pizza crust. The calzone ends that didn't have filling were yummy all by itself. Personal preference is there was way to much ricotta in the calzone. A little pricy, but a great picnic splurge. (there is a nice little park across the street that you can sit at to enjoy your pizza on a nice day) Customer service could use a little uplifting. We were able to find parking on a side street, since they have no parking lot or anywhere to wait for your food. It was a nice day so we took a walk during the 30 minute wait.
