L.L.Bean — Local services in Ross Township

I’m finally at the point in life where I’m tired of buying cheap boots and socks so I invested in some Bean Boots online so I could sign up for the Mastercard and get the 25% off! Unfortunately when they arrived at my house they didn’t fit properly so I made the trip to exchange them at the Ross Park mall with my 4 year old daughter last weekend during Christmas rush and it was worth the risk… the workers were in such good moods. Which is rare for any store these days. I didn’t feel like I was bothering them. The one younger woman in particular who handled my exchange for a different style of boot that I ended up getting was SO wonderful. I wish I could remember her name but she was so easygoing, kind and helpful and nice to my daughter as I was on the phone with Sue from Maine making sure I got the initial 25% discount on the new pair of boots. The store was so comfortable to be in and shop even with a young child, I bought my daughter the LLBean fleeced teddy bear and a big candy cane for her stocking too. It was just such an overall nice Christmas time experience for the both of us. Now my daughter loves LLBean as much as I do. I still have my 4th grade backpack from LLBean with my initials on it which were all the rage back in the 90s. I would encourage LLBean to keep training their employees to be extra kind and attentive like they are because that is one strong way it sets them apart from other places. Most places I don’t like to shop in person because I don’t need any extra negativity in my life but I love shopping at LLBean! The only socks I own that don’t annoy me. Made in America. I became obsessed with this place after 1 visit! Last year I went skiing for the first time & decided to invest in some ski clothes. My first purchase was for long underwear. I really like mine but they do seem to get loose after a day of skiing. I purchased my ski pants here & I'm pretty happy with my purchase. My pants are really cute & fit great, in which my sister actually bought the same pair! I love that they hold the darn tough socks line. They are my favorite! My sister & I also bought the Gortex ski gloves at the end of the year during a sale so I'm excited to see how those hold up next year. I am going to Ohiopyle this summer so I decided I wanted a good pair of hiking shoes. I ended up purchasing the Keen strappy sandle which is great for White water rafting, hiking, biking, etc. I will admit, I was reluctant at first to purchase them due to style but the sales guy was very adamant that they would be the best shoes. I felt I was racially profiled at this store where I came in to do an exchange. An employee who was walking opposite to me outside the store turned around and followed me into the store. He continued to follow me inside the store so I turned around and said "Since you're following me, could you show me where I can find this jacket?" (pointing to my previously purchased item.) He then led me to the rack, asked me my size and handed me the jacket. He didn't allow me to touch any merchandise or shop independently. The cashier was okay. On the way out another guy made a comment and I told him I just needed to do an exchange. He said "I know, I saw you come in." Like how many eyes were on me in the store.
