Estelle Bakery & Pâtisserie — Restaurant in Sacramento

This was my first time back since Estelle's moved to this location and I was pretty disappointed with the customer service. I asked for a sandwich that normally comes on a baguette to be made on a ciabatta roll, and was told that the sandwich "comes on baguette." I asked, "So, I can't get it on a ciabatta...?" and she told me, "I'll do it this one time" with, what seemed to me, an indulging-my-silliness look. At this point, I was a little irritated that it was such a big deal, but I was going to let it go. However, when she read my order back to me, she read the sandwich, then read "on ciabatta" and then paused, looked up, and giggled at me. I then informed her that the baguette exacerbated my TMJ (jaw condition -- hard bread becomes very painful to eat very quickly). She looked somewhat abashed but never apologized for her rude behavior.

I feel like making a sandwich on a different bread is really not that big of a deal and to get to the point where I felt the need to share my medical information with her because of her inappropriate behavior should not have happened. A situation that could have been extremely easy has instead made it my last time coming to this...

Parking: Definitely park at the garages near DOCO. Do not go to the one in Macy's since it closes around 9pm as I heard. There is another garage near Macy's which is open for a long time. Both in same area should not be hard to find. Also parking is near Old sac if you want to see more of both places

Place: I have lived here all my life and I seen progress of how Sacramento has changed throughout the years. Definitely walk around DOCO and stop by Estelle for a nice fancy treat. I enjoy the look of this bakery since it has a nice French and marble look.

Food: If you love sweets I recommend Estelle for there sweet cakes and tarts. They also have salads and sandwiches if you are not feeling sweets. I also enjoyed their spritzers which I got the lychee rose spritzer, though I highly recommend yuzu spritzer. My most favorite cakes would be the raspberry macaroon tart and also the vanilla bean tart. They shape their tarts in heart shapes as well. Recently I bought the creme puff tart and the strawberry shortcake. I highly recommend creme puff...

This review is not based on the their baked goods or food items, it is based on the terrible customer service I experienced during my recent visit. I arrived at Estelle's at 5:45pm on my birthday and there was one party of three ordering in front us. There were two employees working; however, only one was serving the guests. When it was finally my turn to order, I ordered a sandwich and some other baked goods. I was informed promptly that the kitchen closed at 6pm and we were too late. I looked at my watch and it was 6:02 and I realized the reason there was only one employee helping customers was because the other employee was closing the kitchen early. I feel like this is poor customer service, especially having worked in the food industry before. The employee was not apologetic, nor did he seem to care about his customer service. This is very lazy and does not look good to the public. I will not return to Estelle's even though I really like their shop, customer service matters and the employees at Estelle's do not take...
