These guys are my style of 5. Very customer service oriented, work to get me exactly what I need in a friendly, knowledgeable way, without pressure. Esp shoes! I've been going for over 5 years now for my family of 7 athletes and they seem to hire athletes who know shoes, yet let it be our choice. Their advice has matched my chiropractor and running advisor most times. They are smaller, and that can be a downside, but their prices are some of the best around. They offer to order items in, and check other stores. I've found running, walking, cross training, and my favorite living in shoes, (ask for Goga max soles! Better than memory foam!) bamboo socks that are the best, camping equipment, swimsuits, skimboards, visors, roller blades all for great prices and where you can try those things on. BIG 5 SUPER SALES ARE A DECEPTIVE TACTIC TO GET YOU IN THEIR DOOR. I came here for some of the amazing deals they advertise in their circular they send out in the paper. It was the first day of one of their four day super sales. They didn't have many of the advertised sales items in stock, and none of the items (about 5 separate things) I had planned to purchase were available. When I asked about a pair of shoes they had advertised, I was told they didn't even carry them. When I complained I was told many items had already sold out. When I questioned them how that happens on a Sunday, in Utah, five hours into a four day sale with no customers in the store they blamed "corporate" for advertising items they don't have in stock. Worst service EVER! I've been shopping at Big5 for 40 years and it is my go-to place for shoes. Entered at opening Sunday morning. It was slow and the rep purposely ignored me until I tracked him down about 10 minutes later. I found him watching the area and it was obvious he could see I was ready to be assisted. He brought out the shoes I asked for, in the wrong width, just set them down and left. I heard a page for a manager and then another guy came to assist me, also with a poor attitude. I honestly believe this was all simply because of the political hat I was wearing. I work retail and give EVERY customer top-notch service and do NOT discriminate for ANY reason.
