The experience was fun, and the staff was awesome for changing the water and being friendly, and giving compliments. I enjoyed the variety in color glazes, ceramic pieces, and brushes. It was a relaxing experience and the music was beautiful with some Christian music. The workspace was clean and very organized! 10/10 for that part.
I strongly recommend this place anyone who wants a relaxing and stress free art experience!!
(Message to business and not public) However, as someone who works with clay (I'm an artist of multiple mediums), I'm a bit annoyed. I purposefully left the bottom of my piece unglazed because of the fact that glaze sticks to the kiln shelves when firing. (Also, because I didnt want it glazed). However, without my permission, someone clear glazed the bottom of my piece and there are several chips. I do not like the fact that my piece was altered without notice. if I buy it, I should technically own it. also, I left the inside of my angry bird pencil holder unglazed because 1. I thought it was an unnecessary use of glaze considering it is a pencil holder and will not be used for food or drink, and 2, I liked the natural matte texture of the clay. I'm quite bothered that someone went without my permission or notice and glazed both the inside and bottom of the piece.
I am someone who is Very meticulous about my art as I am a professional artist, and I have O.C.D as well. Meaning I am super super picky! I just cannot stand having my pieces altered! I take great pride in my art, and although I did not create the clay piece (canvas) itself, I DID paint it, and that should be respected and should not be altered.
P.s. I did not take any stars off this review because this is an amazing small business, but I am just slightly annoyed because of the fact my peice was altered, even if it was just clear glaze. It was an artistic choice and preference of texture for me to not glaze the inside or bottom. I paid a bit over 30 dollars, so I have every right to be slightly annoyed. Still a great business, lovely idea and execution, but I really encourage that you shouldn't alter your customers finished products unless you have their direct approval. Thank you for reading.
Edit: Thank you for the reply! I was unaware that it was a policy, I completely understand! I'm sorry for any miscommunication. Don't worry about it! I still love my piece! It is a gift anyways 𼰠Of course I will definently come back here, and I will keep in mind that it will be over glazed. Thank you so much for the explanation! Changed from 4 stars to 5 stars because of quick response...
Read moreExcellent date night, family night, independent activity, take home activity, group activity, etc.. Color Me Mine is a great place to spend a few hours of your day and get something out of the deal! You walk in the door and are greeted by tables and a couple of walls of pottery. Select your item (mug, plate, figurine, bowl, so many to choose from!), grab a seat, then start painting! You can also build a take home kit with your item and 5 paint colors. There is a studio fee for each person and a cost per item so you can keep it affordable by choosing a smaller item or go wild and paint something $$. The staff are âamazingâ and will help you with any questions or teach you fun painting techniques to try. Once you are done, you return your items to the staff and fill out a form with your contact info and they will call you once your item has been glazed and fired- typically around 5 days later. You pick it up and VOILA! a new masterpiece to add to your art collection. Congratulations, you are an artist with an item that's already been sold. Look at you go, little Picasso.
Major shoutout to Allie and Olivia. Wonderful employees that Color Me Mine is incredibly lucky to have. Allie was very welcoming and talked through everything from beginning to end. She even showed us dozens of examples of creative things you can do with design. Olivia was also very welcoming and was actively interested in our plans and gave some great tips. Thank you Allie and Olivia for making us feel welcoming and boosting our confidence in our ability...

The employees were on top of everything, I swear every single time I went to wash my brush, theyâd replace the bowl of water on the table immediately, which made cleaning the brushes significantly easier. I wouldnât mind doing it myself, of course, but Iâm disabled and the fact that I didnât have to keep getting up to refresh the water made my experience just that much better. (They even brought us fresh brushes at one point without prompting, which was a pleasant surprise)
Even despite being super busy, the employees flawlessly maintained a very inviting atmosphere. I felt bad about taking as long as I did to paint my project (I was the last in my group to finish) but they never once made me feel rushed or unwelcome. Every employee I interacted with exuded some of the most genuine kindness Iâve seen in customer service to date.
10/10, I would absolutely drive the 12 hours from WA just to visit this place again, I absolutely recommend!
(Btw, they can ship pieces for a super low fee, which is fantastic for people visiting on vacation as well as disabled people who canât leave the house often! I didnât know that was...
