I hate writing this review but I hope ownership will see this and make some changes. I left a 5 star review several months ago. We loved this restaurant. It was actually our favorite in the area. In the past year it has REALLY gone downhill. They had a soup that was served with shank. It was delicious. Last time I ordered it, it was served with brisket instead. I asked my server if they were just out of shank that night. She at first argued that the meat was shank. It was brisket for sure. She checked with the cooks. She then told me that this is just how they serve it now. I asked why they have not changed the menu. She shrugged. It still says it is served with shank even though it is now with brisket. Last time in, I ordered something else. I was then told that they no longer make that dish. I asked why it was still on the menu. Again, shrug. We took friends in with us this week and it was just embarrassing. One friend ordered the banh mi. There was a laughably thin layer of meat in it. Our main dishes were all brought out before the appetizer. Then they tried to bring the wrong appetizer. When I argued it, the server insisted it was what we ordered until the other server corrected her. We had all gotten our entrees except one friend who ordered a simple steak pho. The server had apparently just forgotten. OK. That happens. The rest of us tried to wait as our food was getting cold. It was more than ten minutes. We had seen several bowls sitting up on the counter waiting to be delivered. I finally went to the server and told her it was embarrassing how long it was taking. She had clearly forgotten again. She went to the counter and grabbed one of the bowls. By that time it was barely lukewarm. The rest of us had about finished. Our friend joked that if they sent it back, it would likely take another hour and still be wrong. The server acknowledged that the whole meal was a disaster. Nothing was taken off the bill. We paid over $80 for this horrible experience. Just terrible.
We love pho and we used to love this place. Hopefully they can get new management, better trained staff, and a consistent menu. Until then, we will...
Read moreThis place is amazing. If you like Vietnamese food, go here. If you have never had Vietnamese food, go here. The food is good, the service is good, and the ambience is good. Of course improvements could be made, but overall, it's just great. Let me put it like this: I come here as often as my wife will permit. The service is always very good. They seat me quickly, they're always very kind, and we usually get our food pretty quickly. The restaurant doesn't scream Vietnam, but there is a good amount of decor that is very Vietnamese, very original, and very fun. About the food, in the spirit of full disclosure, I regret to say that I can't review too many of their items as I have a weakness for Bûn (sounds like "boon"), and always get that. The pork and fried spring roll in the bûn I order is very, very good, and I HIGHLY recommend this. If you don't like the lettuce and cucumbers, they're on the side so you can ignore them. However, they don't put in mint or basil, which make the dish far better, nor do they serve the traditional plate with these items, along with peppers and bean sprouts, but it's good despite this. They call it a noodle salad, unfortunately, instead of its real name, which they should really change. A cultural restaurant should aim to be a cultural experience, and educating people on the names of foods not only helps people be informed, but gives them a more holistic experience of the culture, and if they didn't want a cultural experience, they would just have gone to a sports bar. They have a meat platter, essentially, which is pretty good, a good Thai tea. Despite the widespread popularity of pho (the soup), if one wishes to taste the flavors of Vietnam in a single dish, bûn is the way to do it. Go to Pho and get the pork bûn. You...
Read moreAfter spending half of my life in the restaurant business and having traveled around the world eating at many restaurants from small Mom and Pop restaurants, to large chains, and fine dining restaurants, unfortunately I have to give this pho restaurant the thumbs down. I'm disabled and severely handicapped, and when I got to the door no one there to greet you. Two girls standing there behind the counter doing nothing in an empty restaurant, just staring at me and not acknowledging me or seating me totally ignored. Finally I seated myself, and waited another 10 or more minutes before finally one of the girls came over to me with menu. I ordered the Vietnamese beef stew, and a Vietnamese sandwich. The waitress came back with the soup which was a large bowl not even half full, with stewed beef, a couple of baby carrots, and broth, nothing else. Then when I said something to the waitress about the small portion, and virtually nothing but some pieces of meat with a little broth, she says sorry that's it. She walks away and returns about 10 minutes later and tells me they ran out of bread, and cannot serve me my sandwich, even though it was in the middle of the day at around lunch time. So to sum up this experience, service is poor, and shoddy, the broth had some aromatic flavor but was over loaded with sugar like eating liquid candy big bowl tiny portion with perhaps a cup of broth, and some cubes of beef. Restaurant improperly stocked, service horrible, and unfriendly, no wonder the restaurant was empty. Price was $12 which would have been ok if there was something in the bowl. I rate this place a big FAT C- don't waste your time, pass it...
