I love trying new places, so when my grandma offered to take me somewhere to eat, I immediately pointed out the new restaurant- Super Chix.
Approaching the building, you'd assume this is a very professional restaurant, with good service, and high-quality food. I was excited to try their custard and chicken- the two things they make clear they serve here.
Two minutes in, I'm immediately disappointed. The custard cups would barely hold 4 ounces of custard, which was about 5.00 for a single scoop. I wasn't about to make my grandmother pay that much, and if I was gonna get custard, I was gonna get my money's worth.
I decided to settle for a chicken sandwich with fried avocado, and a side of fried pickle slices. My grandma got the korean-style BBQ chicken.
Looking around, there were very few people. Given it was Sunday in a new restaurant, I brushed it off. However, I couldn't shake the fact that all the (ten) employees were teenagers- the only adult being the manager- and they looked confused, and unsure of themselves. They stood behind the counter chatting, seemingly doing nothing important.
We waited about twenty minutes for our food (there were about six other customers). I forgave it, being in a large family, I'm used to a long wait.
The food smelled good, it looked good. I bit into my sandwich, and all I tasted was grease. I gagged. Normally, I don't mind a bit of grease, but I could feel it running down my throat. My grandma had the same results. It was disgusting. I felt sick, and horrible. Neither of us could finish our food.
I insisted we ask for a refund, but my grandma just told the manager we were disappointed, and we left.
Complete waste of my Sunday, and...
Read moreVery good food. When we arrived, the restaurant was only about a third full. But the guy at the counter said because the kitchen was short staffed it would be a 30 minute wait for our food. I had read previous reviews so I wasn't caught too off guard by that. Still that's a long wait for a QSR.
Our food was served in about 23 minutes. One of the chicken sandwiches we ordered was not really hot which was a bit surprising after waiting that long for our order. It was properly cooked. I think it just sat out for a bit before it was served and maybe not well placed under a heat lamp.
The fries were spectacular. We had a loaded Cajun and one rosemary pepper. Both were excellent.
I saw some negative reviews for the drink cost and cup size. For the record, the drinks were $2.79. The cups appeared to be 16 Oz which I agree is on the small side. Once you put ice in, you're looking at maybe 10 Oz of liquid. But if you are dining in, it's free refills.
The prices are a bit high IMO as well. Not having a comp discount makes the situation worse. We spent $39 on two sandwiches, two fries and two drinks. We didn't buy the cheapest things on the menu but definitely bought some of the cheaper things on it and regular fries.
The condiment area was not very well kept. Some of the pumps weren't secured at all. It wasn't wiped down very well either.
I get it, stuff costs more now. But when you go to a QSR that is short staffed, slow service and expensive on a busy weekend day, something just...
Read moreVery disappointing!!
Took the family to try the new place in town and was disappointed in the menu, prices and the food itself. Prices are double what they should be. A large order of fries is $5.99 and a regular is $3.99. A plain grilled chicken sandwich w/pickles (think chick fil a) is $7.79 and the deluxe fried sandwich is $8.29. A simple 20oz soda is $2.59. There were 2 things we did like. They have a sauce bar with quite a few different flavors and we liked all the ones we tried, especially the ranch and the signature sauce. The kids meal was a failure except for the grilled tender which was really tasty... Too bad you only get 1 tender. You get a choice of fries or cinnamon apples, which are literally apple slices with cinnamon sprinkled on them. It also comes with choice of dessert, custard or a cookie. Problem here is that it is a packaged Grandmas brand cookie. The meal also comes with a soda or milk. Overall, everything is overpriced and stuff you can get at Chick Fil a or Freddie's. Not exceptional quality. The customer service was lacking also. We informed the cashier that we had never been there and he just looked at us like he was bored. We would ask a question and get very little feedback...and no explanations if we didn't ask specifically about something.
Will not return!!
FYI, everything is cooked in peanut oil, so beware if you...
