I had a devastating and horrible experience in 2015 with Spring Gardens in St. George. My dad had Alzheimerās in memory care. When he first moved in and I visited, he was so sad and extremely frightened that he was in lock down and couldnāt leave. After a few weeks I asked the staff if we could go for a walk together outside, but was told that he was not allowed to leave the building until they had ābroken him inā. My dad started to believe he was in a prison camp with guards. Literally. I tried convincing him that he was allowed to leave as long as he was with me and we came back. I got special permission from the supervisor to take him to church one day. He was so excited and happy and back to himself, but when we returned we were treated with harsh coldness from the staff (I assume because I had ābroken the rulesā of letting him leave before they had broken him). I drove back to Salt Lake, and a day later got a call from the hospital (NOT Spring Gardens) that my dad had been dropped off ALONE by ambulance because heād had a āfallā. He had no one there for him and was scared. There were no injuries or bruises. The social worker there said that on the paperwork Spring Gardens said they would prefer to not have him return to their facility. When I contacted Spring Gardens I was told 3 different stories of the incident. One was that heād had a fall, one was that he was being belligerent, and another that he had slumped over in his chair. They said they would no longer be able to care for him. I had to pay for his unnecessary hospital bills AND find a new place for him to live (and at the time there were very few options). It was such a devastating experience. Terribly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy father has been living in the Memory Care unit at Spring Gardens for almost a year. During that time I've had contact with many of their wonderful, well-trained and kind staff, eaten at the facility with my dad and family members (great food!), noticed how clean and well kept the facility is, and participated in the church services on several occasions. Such a positive experience! I had always hoped my dad would not need additional care, but as he has declined, it became necessary to help with his everyday care routine to the activities to keep him busy and happy each day. They have a great variety of activities from exercise to crafts and entertainment. During the Covid closure the director, Logan, has helped my family with a Zoom call each week so we can keep in touch with our father, and Logan has become a member of the family! My dad is happy and well cared for, and I am so grateful for their kindness, care,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the only place I would move my loved one to. My mother-in-law lived here for a year when they first opened and recently my mom and dad lived here for three years. We'd toured every assisted living center in the area and this was the best for so many reasons: the staff are so friendly and caring, the food is good with lots of choices, the facility is very well taken care of, maintenance issues are handled promptly and the management are outstanding. I never had any problems and they are good communicators and will return phone calls and messages in a timely fashion. There are always many activities per week to engage the residents with lots of interests. Spring Gardens has such a wonderful feeling about the place. Don't...
