The two women working tonight had an open bottle of wine behind the counter and were being rude and obnoxious to customers. Chocolates might be good (we have not tried out yet) but the service was horrible and we almost decided to just walk out without purchasing. Definitely not the best place in town. In response to the still obnoxious and unprofessionally/poorly written reply; we did use the basket and delivered our $30 purchase (because yes, despite your attitude we still spent money in your store) to the counter in said basket (even though you rudely forced the basket upon me because you said I was “melting the chocolates” [while walking towards the register] by holding the one bag by the plastic top). Your colleague even joked about drinking the wine and being drunk at that point, so believing that it wasn’t wine would be a tough sell now. PS. Maybe don’t complain about the long days of tourist season. I’m quite confident that it’s a lucrative season for all businesses in town and helps to sustain the whole year. Don’t worry though, these two tourists will never visit your shop again....
Read moreI am so thrilled that I found the Chocolate Pantry on a visit to Salem this May! The store is lovely and EVERYTHING there is tempting and beautiful. I ended up picking up (among a few wonderful things) the most fabulous rosewater covered almonds. I barely made it back to NYC with any left because I couldn’t pace myself because they were so unbelievably delicious and I just couldn’t stop eating them. The handful I had left I shared with a friend, who also instantly became obsessed and wanted more. When I reached out to Amy to order more she was so helpful and made everything so easy. She shipped everything out super quick and even included a couple of little extra samples and a thoughtful handwritten note, which was such a nice touch. Aside from the mouthwatering, addictive treats at the Chocolate Pantry, Amy’s beautiful customer service and obvious passion for what she does is also a big part of the overall charm of the place. A must visit if you are in Salem, and the rosewater almonds are one of the most interesting, most delicious treats I...
Read moreOur two children entered the store searching for "Dubai chocolate." The owner greeted them with a smile and during the next ten minutes she was incredibly patient to assist. She went out of her way to show videos of the different chocolates to our daughter (just so she understood the differences), and she talked our 8 year old out of buying a $22 chocolate bar and recommended an $8 batch instead. Later, our 8 year old returned to locate the bar he wanted and once again she kindly assisted him. Regarding the other reviews, I only wish the owners were drinking wine when we arrived as one of my favorite combos is wine and chocolate. Maybe next time we'll stop by with a bottle of wine to share with the owners while tasting chocolate. On a side note, our children said it's the best chocolate they've ever eaten (and we've been everywhere in Europe, Scandinavia, Tokyo, etc to...
