Came here on Friday just as they were opening. Sat at the bar, as we like to do. Kat, our bartender, was attentive and welcoming to these first-timers! Started with blood moon a blood orange aperol and prosecoo drink. Very refreshing. Hubs had salem tea party, a rum drink, also very good. As it was lunch and we like to try many things we started off with the buffalo wings. Nice crisp to skin, good buffalo flavor, some heat but kinda mild and delicious blue cheese dip. As we were mowing down those, we saw the Korean scallion pancake special featured Egyptian walking onions, huh? So we asked Kat, she promptly got the chef to come describe these intriguing onions, that grow and sprout themselves, walking across whatever land they can. So of course we got that pancake and the steamed buns with kimchi! both were really good and hit the spot. I would suggest they market these two dishes together as a lunch plate! As someone who served a year in the army in south korea, I can attest the flavors were spot on and brought me back 25 yrs! The decor has been nicely refreshed, elegant yet cozy. Large bar space and dining room, and now a lovely patio area! This new place is def going on the regular rotation! Good Job Trade House! Let me not forget that as hubs sampled a few different drinks his favorite at the end was the trade secret!

A welcome addition to the old Derby Street neighborhood, Trade House has a very well balanced menu at reasonable price points! ATMOSPHERE: handsome renovation of this old building with blue steel-colored paint and refinished wood wainscoting. The large old windows give a great sidewalk view for people watching. It can be LOUD at only half full. FOOD: handhelds, starters and mains served lunch through dinner. House sauce on the cheeseburger is tasty, no extreme spices. Haddock pie could use a touch more season-- great crust. The brownie w/ice cream & whipped cream can serve 2 and must be homemade. 😋 SERVICE: attentive including good check back, and genuinely friendly and welcoming. We are locals and look forward to coming back to try other dishes 👍

A Tale of Tuna, Triumph, and Transcendence at Trade House!

I didn’t expect to be emotionally unraveled by a piece of raw fish and a humble chicken sandwich, but here we are.

The evening began innocently enough—just a casual dinner at Trade House. But what transpired was less “meal” and more transformational rite of passage. The tuna tartare arrived first, glistening like it had been blessed by Poseidon himself. One bite and I blacked out briefly—not from illness, but from flavor-induced euphoria. My dining companion had to gently whisper, “You're safe now,” to bring me back.

The drinks? Dangerous. Beautiful. Each one was like a spell in a crystal glass. I’m pretty sure my third cocktail awakened my inner goddess and cleared my credit score.

Then—oh, reader—the chicken sandwich. It didn’t have to go that hard, but it did. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, it was the kind of sandwich that makes you reevaluate your relationship history and send apology texts to people who didn’t deserve them. I considered writing it into my will.

But the moment that sealed it all?

The chef—yes, the actual chef—emerged from the kitchen, like a benevolent culinary deity, and came to our table. Not to scold us for licking the plate (though, fair), but to ask how we were doing. How we were doing. I nearly stood to applaud. It was hospitality elevated to a spiritual practice.

Trade House isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a portal. A place where food, drink, and human kindness intersect to form a little pocket of heaven.

Five stars. One grateful soul. And a forever-changed view of...
