I took a feral kitten from my neighborhood to be spayed to this location yesterday. I was there when they first opened because they are supposed to be 1st come 1st served. The person who waited on me was rude from the first word out of her mouth. She seemed to be angry about something and decided she would take that out on me. I was told to pick my kitten up at the end of the day, she would not answer any of my questions. When I returned at 4:30 pm , thinking my kitten had had her surgery early and was recovering all day, I was told to come back in 30 mins because the vet was just suturing her up. When I came back in 30 mins, and asked about her recovery, or any bleeding, or food or water, no one answered any questions they told me the vet would speak to me. No one spoke to me, they just brought the kitten out in the carrier and left her on the bench by the door. Of COURSE they collected the almost 300.00 payment. I'm certain I paid as much as the people with well loved pets but was treated like I and my kitten did not matter and that I had no business being there. They did not seem at all concerned about the kittens well being after she left there. I would advise anyone looking for good veterinarian care to not look in this direction. Go to Lazy 5 they treat EVERYONE with courtesy and take extremely good care of your pets regardless if feral or well loved. They even text and call you following your visit to see how your pet is. Lazy 5 will even visit your home to see your pet. Salisbury Animal Hospital east was one of the worst experience with a vet I have ever had. Oh and I took my kitten here only because the other people in the neighborhood who have had feral cats spayed or neutered took the cats to this vet. I wish with all my heart I had stayed with Lazy 5. Up date: when I got the kitten home I noticed that there was something wrong with her left eye, you could not see the pupil and it was draining badly, it was not that way when I took her in. She was not eating / drinking and sitting in a puddle of urine. I called the vet immediately and was told to bring her in. I was told by the person on the phone that the kitten should have been kept overnight that it was part of the fee. The vet looked at her eye and said it was an old trauma that was healed over I am a medical professional, the eye was freshly draining, red and inflamed and they had sent her home that way without mentioning it or providing medication. I believe they didn't consider this animal deserving of adequate care because she was listed as feral. When I am providing care to patients in the ER I give ALL the patients the same care and attention including the homeless because that is the only compassionate thing to do. I'm certain this place had it's faithful clients, never me, I will be going to Lazy 5 . There is a reason they are always voted the best...
Read moreOverall, I'm super unhappy. They have zero empathy. They treat you like you are the village idiot. I planned to just make it until my kitten was old enough to be neutered. Today took the cake. I've had a diarrhea problem with my now 13 week old kitten.
They blamed "parasites" as the culprit even while yes he had one when he was first born, but he has been wormed. Twice. I refused to let them tell me it was still a parasite problem so that I have to pay for yet another fecal analysis for parasites. They lied (I learned today) about sending the sample so I have been paying for tests that weren't being looked at by a real lab.
When I refused the test that was when the vet told me that he thought it might be fecal incontinence and that it might be an anatomical issue. I asked what they needed to do to diagnose it. That was when I got my first statement that I didn't buy. That it can't be. That it is more of a process of elimination. It's anatomical it's not an autoimmune disease. Then they told me that his life would be a poop life because there is nothing that can be done and it might be better to consider putting him to sleep.
This is something that should have been broached weeks ago and not now. a $1000+ into this rescue kitten for them to stick to one narrative and when challenged the parasite theory. Also, I took Anatomy and Physiology over two crap semesters and what we had to dissect was a cat. So not being able to diagnose a physical problem is not acceptable.
I saw a new vet today. They actually x-rayed my kitten. They didn't tell me to kill him. And to highlight how incompetent Salisbury Animal Hospital really is, they completely missed him having a soft palette. Seriously? What the hell are they really doing when examining animals.
I will carefully review my charges and challenge the examination fees with my credit card company. I'm beyond furious.
Given the other reviews, I'm not shocked. The people who have given the 1 stars aren't lying or exaggerating. I think the most horrific part was how the vet told me he put his puppy to sleep for urinary incontinence. Just a warning to the vet. You like to answer these things. If you answer me to defend your sick selves, I'll delete this and re-post it. You'll never touch another pet of mine. While I might not be rich and I can't afford pointless tests, I love my cats as if they are my own children because they are the children I never had. If there is something anatomical wrong and there is even a chance of him living a very long life, I'll do whatever it takes. I'm not a Kristi Noem.
There is a reason the Goddess put this...
Read moreI was not in the same city as my puppy's regular vet for a few months during Covid. As a first time dog owner with a 6 month old puppy with a broken leg, this is the worst possible place I could have taken him. The level of unprofessionalism and indifference shown to me by the staff and doctors was unbelievable. My puppy was seen here probably 7 or 8 times over the course of 2 months. They don't do appointments so sometimes he was sitting there all day, alone, until they got to him. They have absolutely no respect for anyone's time. My puppy saw a different doctor almost every time as well, so there was major inconsistencies with his treatment and whoever was seeing him that day didn't seem to know anything that had been going on during his previous visits. The doctors gave me virtually zero instruction on how to take care of my dog while he was healing (ie. don't let him run around, how long to administer pain meds, etc.) and it wasn't until I came to pick him up once and pretty much demanded to see a doctor that I was given any answers. I was told numerous times the cast would come off on the next visit, only to have x rays taken and told the fracture was worse than the day he first came in.. When the cast finally did come off, a nurse brought him out to me with no instruction on how to make sure the leg healed properly and how to rehab the leg.. Charles Steinmen treated me with such an arrogant and condescending attitude: Making fun of my dog's name, saying that he was overweight when he had been in a cast and not walking for over 2 months.. He even called me and started reading me a different dog's chart saying that my dog had Parvo.. As a pet owner, I cannot even begin to describe the level of anxiety I felt having to leave my puppy at this unorganized place. Please, if you care about your pet, do yourself a favor and never take your...
