I am an education administrator from Georgia and what I experienced at the Utah State Board of Education is unacceptable by any standard anywhere. I am not going to throw a stone and hide my hand as I have no problem with publicly sharing this information. It is undeniable that people of color are not welcomed here and when brought to their attention it is ignored, not addressed, and dismissed. The front desk receptionist I encountered at the state office should not be welcoming anyone into this state office. I even encountered someone else who worked there as I approached the door to enter and was questioned as to why I was there. Please keep in mind I am a professional education administrator with the same credentials and certifications as their principals and superintendents. I can only imagine how they treat parents and students of color and I am not just talking about African-Americans or blacks. I am referring to all people of color including Asian-Americans, Hispanics, and those from India. Along with discriminatory behavior, office politics in their IT department runs rampant with Katrina Brinkley and Mickey Roos. Their HR department needs to provide some serious diversity and inclusion training throughout this organization as the toxic culture was very apparent throughout the building. It is such a shame when public organizations that were created to serve the people fail the people in a major way. As an educational professional, I was sickened by what I saw and experienced at this state office. This matter needs to be seriously brought to the superintendent and his staff's attention. As someone who has provided educational support and services to many school districts and educational professionals throughout the United States, the Utah State Board of Education has been the worst encounter and experience...
Read moreI heard that Utah State is removing teaching certificate as a requirement for teachers. I think that is a great idea. The teacher training and certification process is a corrupt system because it is an opinion based training and certification process. You have to follow the author's OPINION in order to pass and receive the certificate. The teacher training and certification process is a way for someone to make money without contributing to anything. Every teacher should be encouraged to have free thinking and innovative abilities instead of following other people's OPINION as a way...

Instead, I have to go through the entire navigation and hope I find what I need. When I use the contact us, I get a bunch of names but no way to...
