I've been coming to PK for cuts since before Covid. She’s been nothing but amazing -- up until this last haircut where the cut was obviously butchered and she got mad when I had reached out about it. See the image of my hair, you can see why I requested a refund. To give context, another stylist (from a DIFFERENT SALON, way back in Jan) had cut my hair into layers where the top layer was above my ear and the bottom layer was at my jawline (like a pixie cut). Suffice to say, they cut my hair too short and that was my only issue. I like layers, but my hair was too short -- Cue to now. After growing my hair a good 3 inches longer, I book an appointment with PK to see if they could trim my layers a little as it had grown out and I also needed a bang trim. She looked at my hair and said it looked bad because the hair was curving out at the bottom. But since I didn't want my top layer to be any shorter than it already was, PK suggested we only cut the bottom layer and make it straight. I agreed because I trusted her. The only thing I asked of her was to not make my top layer (at my ear) any shorter, other than that, I told her cutting off the bottom layers was fine. I did not tell her to take nothing else off, only that I didn't want my top layer to be any shorter that what it already was. Well, we cut it. It took her no longer than 5 minutes (my appt is for 30 mins). She showed me to the big mirror and tells me the straight bottom looked better. But I noticed how there was a group of hair that was longer than what she cut. So I point that out and also ask her to trim my bangs shorter. She seemed visibly annoyed and very much rushed to complete my hair cut (mind you, I've been on that chair for no longer than 10 mins at this point). She was so obviously rushing me that I asked her if she needed to be somewhere, to which she replied that another client was coming. In under 15 mins, she completed my hair and blow dried it in a blowout (which was why I didn't see how uneven her work was). My appt was from 2:00 to 2:30. I arrived ~1:50, then waited until 2:06 for PK and another client to be done and then PK had me out by 2:23. She would have had me even earlier had I not asked for her to trim my bangs shorter. I paid $40 for 13-15 mins of rushed work. I didn't expect a “miracle” to fix the "bad haircut" from 6 months ago like she stated in her email. I expected my bottom layer to be straight because she suggested to cut it straight. So when my hair ended up looking like the outline of a mountain range, I was shocked and reached out. But she tells me I’m asking for a miracle? A miracle??? Is expecting my bottom layer to be straight AFTER she had suggested to cut the hair straight a miracle? Does my bottom layer look straight?? Why didn’t she clean-cut my hair from the beginning? Is a clean cut different from a straight cut?? While I may be no hair stylist, one would rightfully assume that when she suggested a straight bottom cut, it would mean a clean-cut bottom, right? I know I’m not that stupid. I know she messed up because she was rushing for her next client and doesn’t want to admit it. Anyways, as soon as I noticed the bad cut, I emailed her. And she responded with how she did. Luckily, my sister was able to fix this, which is why I saw no point in going back to PK and wasting both our times, which was also why I asked for a refund instead. And I was not going to wait two weeks and walk around with this disaster on my head. I would have been happy with half or a third of the refund because my bangs still came out great despite everything else. I’ve had no issues with PK until now. I was disappointed in the haircut, but even more disappointed in how she responded to this. It’s not even about the refund anymore. It’s her response. For any new potential clients, just keep this in mind. PK remains only nice when you agree with everything she does, just never point out her mistakes on your head. You can see a pattern of how she responds to those types of things in another google review below mine.

Where do I begin? Kennedy is a miracle worker who, through mastery of her craft, has transformed my life for the better. I started seeing her at the beginning of my transition, and her expertise and willingness to support on things big and small have played an enormous part in learning how to present myself in an authentic and affirming manner. 🏳️‍⚧️ Fellow queers and allies the city over, supporting this trans-owned business (still exceedingly rare in 2024 and more important than ever in this political climate) is an easy choice. She takes wonderful care of us! Pics of the most recent cut, wax, and die attached. ✨

I’ve been going to the Salon at Library Square since 2018. Princess Kennedy is amazing with color and cuts. She’s also great at letting you know what will look good on you and what won’t. I’ve gone from dark to light and short to long (extensions included) and have loved the experience every time. She’s always accommodating of time and budget. Plus her two adorable dogs are there every time you visit. I would say the only downside is that there is no restroom in the salon and you have to use the bathroom in the library. So drink accordingly lol.

I’m pretty sure Princess Kennedy is the best colorist in the city. I have used her services since 2019 and it’s always a pleasure to see her. I’m a cis lady, but I don’t express my gender with the most high maintenance looks. I’m not the best about keeping up with my hairstyles, and PK always sets me up with a style that will grow out elegantly and not look like a total mess if I can’t make it in for another year. I feel very comfortable and safe in her salon and the fact that she brings her adorable, well-behaved dogs to the salon is a bonus. Highly recommend her for anyone on a gender confirmation journey or cis people who want to spend their money...

Without any doubt, the best salon I've ever been to. Kennedy dyed my hair a deep, vibrant purple, and nearly two months later I'm still getting compliments about how good it looks. I've never known dye last this long without any sign of fading! If you're planning on getting your hair dyed, especially if it's an unusual color, I really recommend paying Kennedy a visit: the lady is a flippin' alchemist when it comes to hair. The atmosphere is great, the location just inside the City Library is really convenient, and as an added bonus, the salon is super LGBTQ-friendly! Now that I've found it, I can't imagine going...
